Product Review: Sunrocket VoIP Telephone Service

This is being one year I am using SunRocket VoIP telephone service. Earlier I used to use Vonage and I switched to SunRocket after two years of continuous service with Vonage. I found lots of interesting features which drove me towards SunRocket. The first thing which really helps me to show my interest in SunRocket is its excellent competitive price. I took SunRocket unlimited plan with $199 for two years. Generally $199/year is a well available plan of SunRocket. But sometimes SunRocket comes up with special promotion where second year is free. That means under the promotion we can get the unlimited plan in just $199 for two years. This offer or deal is valid for one day only. You need to keep your eyes open on Internet to catch this deal. If you avail this plan it will be less than $8.50 per month for your unlimited phone service.

Who Should Use SunRocket - Almost all VoIP services are more or less same in quality. Who are looking for VoIP telephone service with less price and with all exciting features of VoIP telephone, SunRocket is a good option for them. You need to have broadband Internet service at your home to avail this telephone service.

Who Should Not Use SunRocket - In some cases I saw voice quality is going down and there are few problems with caller ID too for this SunRocket service. Again SunRocket VoIP service is based on broadband Internet service, so if there are any problem with Internet connection that surely going to affect the telephone services. If you who want to use your telephone as an emergency service, should not use this telephone service.

Features and Comparison - Let's discuss the main features and compare that with existing other VoIP providers.

1. Price - SunRocket has unbeatable price in compare to any other VoIP telephone service provider currently present in US. The Annual edition of $199/year is the excellent price offering by SunRocket. This annual edition includes unlimited calling to the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico plus over 12 built-in features, enhanced voice mail and bonus international calling. This is less than $17 per month. Sometime they offer second free along with this annual edition. You may look for that deal also which will give you unbelievable price. 2. Voice Quality - I sometimes faced voice quality problem with SunRocket. Simultaneously I heard that SunRocket voice quality is little lesser than Vonage. When I first took SunRocket I had issue with voice and the voice was breaking into pieces. When I called SunRocket for this problem, they did few setting changes on the phone adaptor and that solved my problem.

3. Features - Under features we have lot of things to discuss. We will see few main features how they are working for SunRocket.

A). Choose Your Number - From the SunRocket website you can choose your telephone number. They will provide you list of available numbers at your region and you may then choose the suitable one for you. You can also retain your old number, but in that case you have to keep your old service alive until the number transfer is confirmed. I faced a problem here. I chose one number and wanted not to keep my old number. The new number what I chose from their website was too good. After one month I got an e-mail from them that due to rate center mismatch they are assigning a new number as my primary number and my select number will be with me as s signature number. It made me feel bad about SunRocket service. When I took the first number they confirmed that and later they changed that which proved a bad service by SunRocket, by that time I have already declared my new number to all my friends and relatives. As my old number what I chose earlier is still with me as a signature number, people can still get me if they call to that old number, but when I call them the number on their phone display will be something different, which makes little confusion.

B). Voice mail - The voice mail is an excellent service of SunRocket. You just need to dial '00' to connect to your voice mail. There are lots of options at your web account by which you can control your voice mail. In compare to Vonage this service is easy, effective and user-friendly.

C). 7-Digit Dialing - You can dial just the last seven digits of the number which are within your same area code.

D). Call Return - SunRocket provides this service of calling back to the last received number in free. You just need to dial *69 to call back to the telephone number of your last incoming call.

E). Contact - SunRocket web account has a feature to store all your numbers online. This is an online telephone address book and you can keep all your friends and relative's number here.

F). Click to Call - From the member service contact list you can directly call to the store number by clicking on the 'Call' button. This is a useful and interesting feature implemented. You can also call all the incoming or outgoing number by clicking on call button within your member service space.

G). Distinctive Rings - You can assign four different ring patterns to any signature number so that you will be able to differentiate between your different signature number.

H). Do Not Disturb - This is yet another unique feature of SunRocket. None of the other VoIP services has this feature implemented. You can set your telephone status as 'Do Not Disturb', so that one will be able to call you during that period and all call will be forwarded to your voice mail box. This is very useful when you have baby and don't want someone to call you and make your baby wake up.

In addition to all these feature SunRocket has all other features, namely, 3-way calling, call forwarding, call waiting, call logs, simultaneous ring, keep forwarding, speed dial etc. I didn't find any extra on these listed feature from any other provider and so don't think we need to discus these features in details.

4. Customer Service - SunRocket has excellent customer service. There are several times I called SunRocket and each time I received a good service from the customer service representative. The representatives are well trained and knowledgeable. Each call has been tracked very well and after the call ended they will send you a brief about that call for your reference.

5. Web Account - Each customer will have a web account to manager their telephone services. Web site is really good and easy to use. Site is very much informative and you will find all necessary help documents are readily available just beside the topics. They provided space for lots of different feature, but everything is easy to find and easy to understand.

6. Signature Number - If you take annual edition they will provide you with a signature number. Signature number is a terminating number only. Anyone can call you to that number, but during outgoing call you can only use your primary number. This signature number just works like yet another number at your home. You can assign this number to your child and you can also assign a different ring tone for this number (from Distinctive Ring feature). Now you will able to understand which one is your call and which one for your child, no need to receive all calls which are not for you. A separate web account can be assigned to signature number too, which will enable you to configure and maintain a separate account with call logs, contacts etc.

7. Referral program - SunRocket is offering a very good referral program. You can get 25 points for first 8 referral and then 10 points for each additional referral - up to a maximum 300 points per SunRocket number. Then these points can be redeemed to $10, $25 and $50 gift certificates from 350 merchandises.

8. International Call Credit - With the annual edition SunRocket will provide you $3 credit on each month for your international call. For few countries where rates are very less, this $3 credit can give you up t0 200 mints in free of cost. This is not at all comparable to any other VoIP service provider currently offering telephone services.
