Product Review Super Pet Critter Trail Discovery Deluxe Habitat

I've looked around for a while for a new cage for one of my boy hamsters before finally settling on the Super Pet Critter Trail Discovery Deluxe Habitat. I decided to purchase this model of Critter Trail, because it seemed like a very efficient habitat for my hamster.

The Super Pet Critter Trail Discovery Deluxe Habitat came with a bit more then I really needed, after all why would I want to carry around my hamster in an all in one carrier? I couldn't really imagine anyone would want to, but I suppose there is a kid somewhere in the world who likes to take their hamster for walks. It also came with a food bowl, that I wasn't really in need of, but I considered it a bonus. I would have much rather they included a liter box instead of a food dish, but a food dish would have to do.

The reasons I purchased the Super Pet Critter Trail Discovery Deluxe Habitat is because of the way the hamster wheel was attached to the side of the cage, like several other of my hamster cages. Super Pet Critter Trail Discovery Deluxe Habitat came with a really nice, and I mean a REALLY nice water bottle. It was large enough I didn't have to worry about watering my hamster for about 2 weeks. I also liked the fact that this particular habitat came with tunnels, this was previously lacking in another cage I had purchased, and not only did it have one, but two!

The top carry all in one, could be used as the hamsters house, since it didn't come with any shelter like a house, or nest. So it came as no surprise that this was where the hamster ended up sleeping. I created a litter box just for that area.

There are some downfalls to the Super Pet Critter Trail Discovery Deluxe Habitat that I didn't foresee. Looking at the box, it showed how the lid to the cage stayed up while a kid was putting the hamster into the habitat. This was not the case, in fact the lid needs to be held up on both the main part of the cage, and the all in one carry all, neither propped open as the box shown. This to me, was false advertising. Another downfall is the cage wires are VERY easy to bend. The Super Pet Critter Trail Discovery Deluxe Habitat wasn't easy to put together. The wheel is not quiet as it says on the box. The back of the cage has a hole for a cap or other tunnels to be added, however there is wire on the inside thus preventing you to cap it off from the inside so the cage would sit flesh against the wall. The negative about the water bottle that came with Super Pet Critter Trail Discovery Deluxe Habitat is that it's very dark, and hard to tell when it needs filled again.

A plus that isn't advertised on the box is, there are two hooks on the inside top for hanging toys for your hamster. Thus making the second level a funhouse. Had Super Pet advertised this on the package, I certainly would have purchased things for the cage before leaving the store.

Considering all these flaws, and the bonus of a food dish I rate Super Pet Critter Trail Discovery Deluxe Habitat an overall 6 out of 10.
