Description on the retail box:
Maybelline Superstay Silky Foundation lasts for 16 hours with better skin coverage - the blended soft focus effect plus the stable color pigments allow for a feel good, look good result. The pump lets even amounts of foundation and Coverage Extender blend together for optimal results.
Instructions printed on the bottle on how to use:
- Press down firmly in center over arrow.
- Upon first use, press pump 10-12 times until both the color and the silky coverage extender dispense evenly.
- Apply one pump to fingertips, apply directly to face and blend prior to sun exposure.
- Always use equal parts of both sides.
- If both sides do not dispense evenly, gently tap bottle upright on a hard surface to remove any air bubbles.
The Superstay Silky Foundation comes in 12 shades and I wasn't sure what color to choose, but figured creamy natural was a safe choice. It seemed a little too bronze at first but as I continued to blend it ended up looking good. It's really easy to blend as long as you get the same amount color and extender from both sides of the dispenser, which takes a bit of practice. I discovered it helps to press down in the center of the pump. I had to prime the pump a few times before the product actually started to come out. Then once it started coming out, I discovered a new problem. I was holding the bottle upright so the product ran straight down the front of the bottle making a mess. So next time I tilted the bottle quite a bit and pumped onto my fingertips and it worked out much better. Note: you might want to keep the plastic lid that comes with the bottle, especially if you carry the bottle around with you in a makeup bag because the dispensing tops can get quite messy.
Once I finally get it out of the bottle and start blending both the color and extender on my face, I'm hooked! The creamy silky texture is wonderfully smooth and delicate on my face. The makeup did feel a bit thick on my fingers before I put it on, but did not make my face feel overly heavy. The coverage was excellent and better than I expected.
The product description says lasts it 16 hours and won't rub off. I found that it lasted about 8 hours and in the hot Texas summer it did rub off a bit, especially around the mouth area after eating and using a napkin. I was a bit concerned that it might be hard to remove at night because of the "superstay" factor, but it came right off using the face cloths I use every night.
I paid $11 for a 1 oz. bottle. The bottle looks small but it did last longer than I thought it would, so I feel I got my money's worth.
I like that it has SPF12 in it, so you don't have to worry about using a separate sunblocker.
To sum it up: even though the dispenser is messy and it didn't quite stay on for 16 hours as advertised, I would recommend this product.
