Product Review - Sweet Potato Tortilla Chips from Food Should Taste Good

Sweet Potato Tortilla Snack Chip Crackers Burst with Flavor, but Not Grease

Will Stape
Sweet potatoes are mostly ignored. We cook batches of em up on holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas, or to supplement a big, fancy dinner. But aside from holiday feasting, sweet potatoes don't get much respect come meal time. It's sad, for I like many, love them. I've survived an almost unacceptable lack of sweet potatoes in my life, but I'm much happier now. I've found a snack to address the culinary issue. Sweet Potato Tortilla Chips from Food Should Taste Good satisfy a sweet potato lover's need for a rich, sweet spud taste in a tasty snack chip. Sweet potato lovers rejoice!

Taste Test

I love snack chips, but hate greasy ones. I especially hate greasy potato chips. Sweet Potato Tortilla Chips burst with sweet potato flavor, but the overpowering greasy, fatty taste isn't present. If you're looking for a chip that makes your fingers glisten, and gleam with grease, this isn't it. What's especially pleasant about them is the fact that they're really two snacks in one. Printed right on the bag, it clearly reads (it's a cracker, too!) This isn't an empty boast. They can be easily soaked in dips, cheese or salsa, but they're sturdy enough to hold a spread on top. Also, there's really a nice tortilla flavor in the mix too. It's an effective taste blend, that should please sweet potato lovers, and also tortilla chip fans at the same time.

Nutrition

The tasty chips are made with stone ground corn, high oleic sunflower oil, sweet potato, corn bran, evaporated cane juice and sea salt. Total fat is 6g, with no trans fat, sodium is 80mg, total carbohydrate 18g, dietary fiber 3g, sugars 2g and protein 2g. For those avoiding gluten, they're also gluten free, and not genetically modified in any way.

Summary

Sweet Potato Tortilla Chips from Food Should Taste Good will please both snack chip lovers, and sweet potato aficionados like myself. The chips - they're crackers too - taste great with dip, cheese, or plain munchies out of the bag. You will pay a little more for them, as the company doesn't have a big name like the big snack companies. However, the great taste, and natural content is more than worth the extra expense. Snacks like these, which are made out of nutritious ingredients, and taste wonderful, are a food model snack companies should emulate.

I would venture that the frozen Sweet Potato Crinkle Cut Fries, which have been shivering in my freezer for months, are greasy. Your snack sounds much better.

These chips taste incredible. I would fly to anywhere they were serving them, even if I had a fly head and arm, and could digest nothing but a saucer of milk laced with rum.

I love their Pop Chips. I'll have to try and find these too.
