There is a canopy over the top that adjusts in three positions to protect the baby from the sun. The canopy is removable to help with storage. My baby finds this float to be comfortable enough to fall asleep in it. She doesn't tip from side to side because it supports her very well. We are comfortable enough with this product to let her float around by herself as long as we are keeping an eye on her. I really like that the inside tube is covered with fabric to protect the baby's skin from the edges of the plastic. I am sure it must be much more comfortable this way.
The nice feature about this float is that you can either blow the middle ring up all the way for younger babies or inflate is less for older kids so they can be deeper in the water. This is a great way to expose them to the water and get them used to swimming at a young age so that they will not be afraid to learn when they are older. The babies really like to splash around in the water. My daughter laughs the entire time.
We have used this product at the beach as well. It is light weight and folds up small so it is easy to travel with. It takes about the same amount of air as a beach ball so it is quick and easy to inflate once we get to the beach. This probably would not work well at a beach with waves over a couple feet but the beach we go to is fairly calm. An adult simply stays within a couple feet to make sure nothing happens but it has never even come close to tipping over.
This pool float works great to get your baby in the water and protect them from the sun so that they are able to enjoy the pool and beach just like everyone else.
