Product Review: Target Brand Diapers

Can a Store Brand Really Keep Baby Dry?

Robin Neorr
I am a Stay at Home Mom (SAHM) of a nine month old daughter. We go through diapers like mad! Through the past nine months I have used at least two thousand seven hundred diapers. That being said, I know my diapers and I know what to look for.

The following is my review of the Target Brand diaper.

PROS

I love the price of the Target Diaper. The size three diapers retail for $13.89 of 102 diapers. That comes out to a little less then 14 cents per diaper. You can not beat this.

A package of 40 size three Huggies Diapers retail for about $8.99. Even with a coupon for $1.50 off Huggies they still come to between $7.49 for 40 size three diapers. That comes out to almost 19 cents per diaper if you have the coupon. Considering how many diapers my girl goes through that extra nickel a diaper really adds up. The $5.10 that I am saving by buying 102 diapers from Target can almost buy me an extra pack.

The Target diapers are unscented. Several different diaper brands such as LUVS diapers scent their product. My daughter has sensitive skin and I love the fact that she is not suffering from extra diaper rash just because I like the scent.

Target diapers have the cutest little designs. I was expecting the diapers to be plain white with no fun colors on them. I was so happy to find that the size two diapers had care bears on them and the size three have the cutest little dot design.

Target diapers work. I have never had a problem with leakage, and I am happy to say my daughter sleeps through the night. It can handle her nighttime needs without a leak, which is what a mom needs. I have never had a problem with the tabs ripping, and I can not say that for the more expensive brands.

CONS

I have never seen a coupon for the target brand diapers. I know they are already thrifty enough, but I would love to see a coupon for that added savings thrill.

They do not make a swimming diaper. My daughter loves to go swimming and for this activity we purchase "Little Swimmers" from Huggies. I wish that target would make a swimming diaper.

You have to go to Target to buy the diapers. I was making the diaper purchases as part of my weekly grocery trip, but now I have to make a special trip to stock up.

Overall I love Target Diapers and plan to continue using them. I think they are a great product, and love the price and savings that they provide for my family!

Wish we could have used the Target brand diapers. We were given a case and about 20 diapers in my baby developed a nasty looking diaper rash that turned out to be an allergic reaction to the diapers. I know because when we finally got it cleared up (3 weeks later) I put one of the diapers back on her and in 2 hours or so she was already getting red. We love LUVS. I like pampers too but for the price LUVS win hands down!

My son (2 yrs) had a very bad allergic reaction to the Target diapers. He got an itchy red rash all around the top edge of the diaper and his entire chest and belly got red bumps. He had eczema when he was younger so he does have sensitive skin. They also leaked constantly. I won't buy them again. It is too bad since they are priced right.

I have always used Pampers Cruisers. Love them! I had a lots of leaks with the more affordable Pampers Baby Dry, Luvs and Huggies. When our little guy (18 months old) started potty training a month ago I wanted a cheap diaper that I could rip off quickly and not worry if I tore them in the process. I decided to pick up a pack of Target diapers for when we were at home (they are half the price of the Pampers Cruisers). As I put the first one on I was pleasantly surprised. They fit very well and I liked how they had adjustable velcro tabs (I actually expected the non-adjustable sticky tabs for the price I paid). Now I will never go back. They are absorbent, they hold up well to being ripped off my son in a mad dash to the potty, and I have found that if the diaper is dry I can actually put it back on and it doesn't fall apart! Talk about savings :)

I began using the target brand diapers for my grandson when he was nearly two months old. Since than, I have never resorted to any other diaper. They are inexpensive and absorbent. He is now 9 months old and continues to wear them. I live in the Silver Spring, MD area and there are several Target's near my home. I found the one in Wheaton Plaza to be cheaper than the one near Cherry Hill. No matter what, I will continue to use Target brand diapers as they are economical and effecient.

I love Target diapers! They are great in price and they hold a lot better than others i've used. Some babies are allergic to certain brands ... when i comes to rashes my daughter is allergic to the Luvs. I haven't had a problem with the Target brand at all.

I had a bad experience with these diapers. I changed my son before I cooked dinner, two hours later, he's smelling of amonia and is screaming bloody murder because of a rash. Poor absorbtion and they don't fit him well at all. Great for the price and quantity, but not for my kid. Parent's Choice was excellent as well but we went back to good ol Huggies.

I've been out of the diaper market for a quite a while, but give me a few years and I'll be back again. This time for me.

I don't have a Target that close to me. I buy either Kroger or Parent's Choice at Walmart...I prefer the Parent's Choice. Good review.
