Product Review: Target Couch with Ottoman

Target's Couch with Ottoman is a great way to add extra seating into a dorm room or small college apartment because it is affordable, comfortable, and compact. The couch comes in red, blue, and green. All three colors have black ottomans. The nice feature of this set is that the ottomans can tuck away under the couch or slide out so you can put your feet up. This product costs $105 from Target.

This couch is covered with a comfortable material and thick foam so it is pretty comfortable to sit on. However, it is pretty stiff so you cannot sink in and cuddle up. The back could be reclined at more of an angle to make it better. I feel like I am sitting up very straight but I guess it is good for your posture. This couch is not meant to replace a normal living room sofa but it works well for small spaces or children's rooms. I purchased a couple extra pillows to put on mine to make it more comfortable to sit on. I also usually throw a fleece blanket over it to make it more snuggly.

It is sturdy enough to hold two college age students easily. I would not suggest that you jump on it but with normal use it should be fine. The ottomans are more solid than I would have expected considering the way they are constructed. I would imagine it would be perfect for people who play a lot of video games. We usually sit on it to watch movies or just hang out. It is mostly for guests because otherwise they would sit on our bed. I would not recommend this for an adult who wants to use it in their living room to sit and watch TV because it is not comfortable enough.

Assembly for this product was pretty tricky. It came with the screws and allen wrench that are required to put it together but getting the screws in was pretty tough. The holes are pre-drilled in the frame and I had a difficult time trying to align them so that I could get the screws through. I found that I needed another person to help me hold it in place while I put the screws it. Together, it took us about 45 minutes to assemble.

Overall, this couch is good for young people who are looking for something compact to sit on. I really like that the ottomans slide under so that they stay out of the way.
