Product Review of T-Mobile's Samsung Behold Touch Screen Cell Phone

BS
Touch screen phones are extremely popular right now, which means every big name cell phone provider has either already developed their own version of the touch screen phone or is in the process of doing so. Unfortunately, most people do not have the option to select a phone from just any cell phone carrier, so the options are not exactly limitless. For those who are with T-mobile, there are two different touch screen cell phones available, the G1 which is often advertised on television as the Google phone, and the Samsung Behold. It always helps to do a little research before purchasing a new cell phone, so for those looking into the Samsung Behold, here is a product review. This product review of the Samsung Behold includes information about the features, camera, keyboard, actual phone, the screen and battery life.

Samsung Behold Features

This phone has many great features, the most appreciated are the camera, the MP3 player, video capability, and text and picture messaging all of which work great. It also has convenient features like a calculator, an alarm clock, speakerphone, and bluetooth. The Samsung Behold also has real web browsing capability, as well as voice dialing. For real web browsing, you will have to pay for the data plan, which also gives you access to the built in GPS system, but you do not need the data plan to access your e-mail. Of course, the most important feature in determining whether or not this would be a good phone for you is the touch screen.

Samsung Behold Camera

The Samsung Behold comes with a built in 5 megapixel camera, which is very high quality for a phone camera. There is also a flash option that you can turn on or off whenever you need it. The only negative to the camera is that is has a very slow shutter speed, so if you are trying to capture a candid moment, there is a good chance it will be over before your phone actually takes the picture. The camera also has a lot of different frames that can border your picture, and you can send these in a picture message to all your friends.

Samsung Behold Keyboard

As with most touch screen phones, the Samsung Behold has a virtual keyboard. When you open a text message template, you can hold the phone in the upright position, the keyboard pops up in the form of regular phone keys. This means that there are three letters on each button, and you have the ability to use the T9 prediciting text, or the abc texting option. If you hold the phone sideways, a QWERTY keyboard pops up and allows you to type just like a computer, also with T9 or abc. The keyboard is very sensitive and works great. The only problem is using predicting text when the phone is in the upright position will often give you a different word than the one you are looking for, sometimes not even a word at all. You also have the option to text in Spanish or French.

Samsung Behold Phone

The phone works great, the volume can be adjusted easily so that everyone can hear. You can also access the menu while you are on the phone, so you can get to your address book or messages in case you need some information during your conversation. The speakerphone also works great, the volume on the speakerphone can also be adjusted. Of course, because the phone does have a touch screen, if your face touches the screen, it will light up and possibly push a button that you did not want pushed.

Samsung Behold Battery Life

The Samsung Behold has a very large screen with lots of features, which usually makes a phone has poor battery life. The Samsung Behold's battery life is actually better than most would expect it to be. If you are constantly using your phone throughout the day for texting and calling, there is a good chance that you will be down to two bars by the end of the day, but if you do not use it constantly throughout the day, you will most likely have a great deal of battery life left. This phone also charges very quickly, so even if you are down to one bar on your battery, you should be ready to go after 20-30 minutes of charge time.

Samsung Behold Screen

This phone has a very large screen, because there is no keyboard to take up space. The quality of the images is great, the images are bright and clear and easy to see. There are also light censors at the top of the phone that dim or light up the Samsung Behold as need be. The only negative is that it gets dirty so easily because you are constantly touching it, but that is to be expected with any touch screen phone.

I went to a tmobile store wanting to buy the behold and the man there told me that the keyboard is unresponsive. Is that correct?
