On the outside of the box, it states that this package weighs 3 pounds, and they aren't kidding. This is a lot of food for the money. In fact, this chicken is so heavy and dense that it takes 2.5 hours just to cook in the oven, or 1.5 hours if it has already been thawed. If you're going to have this for dinner one night, you better plan way ahead of time if you need it to be ready for when you usually eat.
The chicken comes wrapped in plastic and sitting on a Styrofoam tray, as shown in the photo. All you have to do is take a baking pan, such as an 8x8 Pyrex dish, and put some nonstick cooking spray in the bottom. You then set the chicken, breast side up, in the dish and cover with aluminum foil. Most of the cooking time is done while it is covered, and then for the last stretch you remove the foil. You're whole house will smell like a Cajun kitchen when it is ready to eat.
When finished cooking, the chicken comes out nice and tender and it is packed full of spicy rice and crawfish. It has a lot of flavor, but I wouldn't call it a spicy dish, by any means. That being said, I must warn you that I am from South Mississippi and what I consider spicy might be very different from what people in other locations do. There's enough food here to feed four hungry people, easily. It goes great with a nice salad or even some bread rolls.
According to the nutritional information on the back of the box, one of these chickens contains about 7 servings, and each serving has 360 calories and 15 grams of fat. It also contains 23 grams of protein. I would also like to note that the chicken is packaged with the skin still on, so removing that skin will take away a lot of those fat grams. The skin is mostly there to hold in the moisture as the chicken cooks.
This Boneless Stuffed Chicken is a real delight and you get a lot of food for your money. Next time you are in your local grocery store, you should try to find one. You won't be disappointed.
