Tostitos Scoops.A Fun Little Chip
Tostitos Scoops are a corn tortilla chip that are fairly new on the market (a year or so). Tostitos has taken their classic round tortilla chip and molded it look like a mini-bowl. Imagine a really small version of a taco salad bowl you would get from a restaurant. Scoops are come in a fairly large package for around $3.00 each. They also tend to go on sale so the last package I purchased was 2 for $4. Very comparable to the price I was paying for store brand tortilla chips. Scoops have a fresh lightly salted taste that is comparable to any regular corn tortilla chip.
No More Double Dipping!!
I have always loved tortilla chips - any brand and really any flavor. But Tostitos Scoops are becoming my new favorite. I was introduced to these lovely chips through our nanny and I'm now hooked. In our house chips can be extremely versatile. My main obsession is just eating chips with shredded cheese melted over them. But recently with these chips we have expanded to using them both with dips and in more complex recipes. My two favorite ways to eat these are dipping them in a cheese & bean dip and making killer baked nachos. (Check out my profile for a recipe of these killer baked nachos, which are best made with Tostitos Scoops.)
With only a few ingredients (see below) Tostitos Scoops! are a healthy snack for anytime. Pick some up and have yourself a great snack!
For those interested here are the ingredients (from the manufacturer): Whole white corn, vegetable oil (contains one or more of the following: corn, sunflower or soybean oil), and salt. No preservatives.Scoops are the anti-double-dipper's dream. One can easily scoop up enough dip, without breaking your chip, to cover the entire chip. That right... got a heavy bean dip, or a tough, cold cheese spread? Not to worry these chips won't break. Also, these little scoops are pretty much bite-sized. I can usually pop one right in my mouth and chomp down - and no I don't have that big of a mouth. Because of their shape Scoops tend to not break as often either in the bag or in your dip. I hate getting to the bottom of a bag of tortilla chips and finding handfuls of crumbs. Usually I get about one small handful of crumbs.
