Product Review for Tracfone; Motorola Wi7g

And Safe Link and Tracfone

Wayne Thomas
I signed up at Safelink.com for a free cell phone with free monthly minutes. One can qualify if they belong to one or more of 7 programs including Social Security, disability, and food stamps. The phone is free and you receive 70 free minutes monthly which roll over. You get another 70 minutes each month. Also minutes may be purchased at .05 per minute. When I bought minutes I received 40 free min. with a purchase of 50 min at $10 and another 60 min. at $10. No roaming charge, long distance is free in the U.S., also international calling is free to many locations at no additional charge.

The Motorola W17g that I received could not be shipped to my post office box. Since we do not have a physical mail box at home in our commercial building I had to give them another mailing address. I gave them my sister's address in zip code 30214. I live in zip code 32421. I was assured that it would be no problem.

I was in Fayetteville at my sis's house when ordering. I had to go home to Altha Florida for a few days before returning to Fayetteville Ga. After picking up the phone I put it on charge and studied the book for activation and getting minutes as well as other needed info. It was pre activated and after charging the phone I begin. I got my free minutes and when I arrived home I found my phone would not dial any number without getting " call restrictions -34"; with that message I contacted Tracfone on my land line. After spending over 2 hours with support and customer service I found out I had to wait on a new sim card being sent. I was to be contacted within 48 hours, it didn't happen yet but it's the weekend.

The explanation was that the phone sent to and was meant for the 30214 zip code. The new sim card is for my 32421 zip code. I asked support if I would need another phone if I took a trip to the Aquarium in Tennessee. I got no answer. Being retired and retarded I had no idea how cell phones worked.

Most folks have a mail box so my problems that I experienced should not be a problem for others.

The contacts with customer service and support were very nice and helpful. The Motorola W17g is to me a good cell phone full of features. With the free phone and service you get voice mail, text messaging and international calls to over 80 locations for no additional charge.

For anyone on a fixed income this free phone and minutes cannot be beat.

THIS "SAFELINK" IS A FRAUD!! MY PHONE ONLY WORKS WHEN SOMEONE CALLS ME -- OUTSIDE OF MY HOME I GET "RESTRICTION 34"!!

AFTER HOURS WITH IGNORANT, NASTY "TECHNICAL SUPPORT" WHO ASKED ME OVER AND OVER THE SAME QUESTIONS THEY SAY THAT "MY PHONE IS WORKING"!! YES, PHONE IS WORKING BUT SERVICE IS RESTRICTED OUTSIDE OF MY HOME!!

THEY ALSO SUGGEST TO GO TO THE LOCATIONS WHERE I AM NOT ABLE TO MAKE A CALL AND... AND CALL THEM!! HOW?? WITH WHAT???

WHAT GOOD IS A "SAFE" SERVICE WHEN YOU CAN'T USE IT WHEN YOU NEED IT????

IT'S JUST GOOD FOR TRACFONE TO GET OUR TAX MONEY TO MAKE TRACFONE RICHER!! FRAUD, FRAUD, FRAUD!!!
