If you're looking to get a prepaid Tracfone cell phone, but you want a stylish and modern flip phone, the W260g likely caught your eye. If you're looking to see if this phone is the right type for you, read on to find out the pros and cons of this camera.
Body
The Tracfone Motorola W260g looks very similar to the W370 and W360g, both very popular Moto phone's from Tracfone. The most apparent different between the phone types is the color - the W260g is black, whereas the other two mentioned are silver in color.
The body of the W260g is almost identical to the W360g - it has the same front panel with three invisible LED light patterns that glow when an action is initiated: call, text, and low battery.
The phone itself is rounded, with the bottom half of the phone larger than the top. The plastic is textured, and it makes it look cheaper - overall, the phone doesn't feel as solid and well built as the 300-series.
The numbers on the keypad are larger and modern-looking, and it makes seeing the characters easier for those with poor vision.
Features
This is a basic phone - it is meant to make calls and type texts, and not much else. If you're looking for a camera, Bluetooth, and Internet, look elsewhere. If, on the other hand, you're just looking for the basics, then read on.
The Tracfone Moto W260g cell phone features a 128 x 128 pixels display, Motorola's popular CrystalTalk Voice Enhancement for clear transmission, 6.5 hours of talk time, and call ID/voice mail.
There are 35 preloaded ringtones, and the phone does have a vibrate mode, which isn't available on a lot of cheaper, lower end models. The phonebook on the system can hold up to 500 contacts, and there's also a few games to keep you entertained.
The tools are basic, but useful none-the-less. There is a calendar with appointments, currency converter, and stop watch.
Voice Quality
The quality of calls is very nice - it doesn't sound like a tinny cell phone, it sounds like a normal landline.
Cons
Users report a talk time lower than the claimed 6.5 hours, though that amount will vary based on how often you open and close your phone, and your own settings.
There is no dedicated volume button on the side of the phone, which is incredibly frustrating - you have to manually change it by navigating within the menus. This means you won't be able to quickly turn it down in class, or if it goes off at a different, unfavorable time.
Conclusion
This phone is less than $20, which puts it into an entirely different price bracket then the more expensive W360/W360g. It is intended for those who want a cheap, inexpensive phone to simply make and receive calls while out and away from their home/work/school. It is an excellent option for children who are prone to dropping phones, and for storing in a glove box.
As an everyday phone, however, the lack of a dedicated volume button would irritating, and at times downright inconvenient. There are other phones that fall into this price range with a volume button - unless you're planning on leaving the phone at one volume setting, I would look at one of them.

Post a CommentYou don't typically get Tracfone for the phones, you get it because it offers ridiculous value for your money, I get 120 minutes for just 30 bucks a month which is a rate that you don't find with contract carriers and there are plenty of ways to double your minutes.
What I like about this phone is that it's moderate SAR (specific absorption rate) for RF radiation is at a moderate level and lower than most other Tracfone models in my area.
The motorola is a pretty basic phone. Ideal for anyone who is only looking to use the phone for making calls or texting (you know, the stuff people are supposed to be using their cell phones for). I gave this phone to my little brother, to introduce him to the world of cell phones and he has been showing it off to all his friends. My parents buy him minutes whenever he needs them, but its rare because a 13 year old boy doesn't spend a lot of time on the cell phone. I've used the phone a few times and am surprised at the call clarity. It is as good as my phone, and I have a blackberry through Verizon. He's happy with the phone and it made a great birthday present. Now he doesn't bug me to use mine.
