I may have been the last person in America to get a DVD player. I finally broke down about three months ago because I got tired of only being able to watch DVDs on my computer. For one thing, I sometimes had trouble getting it to play DVDs, as there seemed to be a lot of interference from anti-spy ware types of programs and things like that. Sometimes I had a hard time diagnosing the problem if a DVD wouldn't play. Also, my desktop computer monitor really isn't ideally situated for lounging on the couch and watching movies, and I didn't want to be having to move it around all the time. Furthermore, it is getting harder and harder to find VHS tapes. So I decided to at least price some DVD players.
It turns out that there are at least some DVD players that aren't at all expensive. I got a Trutech TT 320 DVD player at Target for $34. At that price I was wondering how good it would be, but for $34 I figured I didn't have much to lose, and I am really glad I bought it. It plays just about any type of Disc - DVD, video or audio CDs, MP3 music files, and JPG images from your digital camera. It is easy to connect to your TV and easy to use. It comes with a fairly complete Operation Guide and a limited warranty (three months for defects and malfunctions, one year for parts). It is also small and light, so it is easy to move if I want to watch DVDs in the bedroom instead of the living room. Although for $34, I may just buy another one for the bedroom. It also has a parental control that you can set, with ratings ranging from Kid Safe (suitable for all ages) to Adult (adult themes, language, and nudity).
If you are looking to get a new DVD player, consider the Trutech TT 320. It is affordable, easy to use (even if you are technologically challenged) and works great.

I've bought 2 and does not put out enough power it just sits there with blue instead of green light. help. dereklasenby@hotmail.com
it ultimately becomes a dead box
I just got one for free person could not get the door to open. Read this article how to fix it and it works fine for now. Time will tell. Husband said that when they put it together they didnt do a good job it was un alined.
I had the same issue of the tray refusing to open. I followed Craig's instructions above about removing the front cover. I manually moved the tray in and out about 10 times and lo and behold, it started working on its own! Try it out! Move the tray the first few times by turning the large black gear on the left side. Once it starts loosening up, move the tray by hand to clear the tracks. It should work after that.
Huh--from the comments it sounds like lots of people have had problems. The one I reviewed here is still working after more than two years. I bought it in 2006 and still use it all the time. I think they got junkier after that, though, because I bought one in 2007 for a TV in another room that only lasted four months. I noticed that the price was similar to the one I bought in 2006 but that it seemed cheaper in quality to my first one. So after that second one died I bought a Phillips that seems to be working fine and wasn't that much more expensive.
I've had mine less than a year, which seems longer than most people's last. The tray won't open and I don't have the money to buy even a cheap replacement, so I took it apart. After removing the outside casing and the front panel, I was able to turn a gear and slide the tray out. It will close on its own so i only have to take the front off to open the player. I would not recommend leaving the covers off because of the multiple "invisible radiation" warnings on the case and the front is connected by some flimsy wires.
I got a trutech TT320. It did not compatiable with LCD HD TV. I can not set vedio syste. it's sucks.
