Product Review: Universal PS2 Controller Adapter

Since after I've bought my Wii, I was very much excited since I get to experienced all the fun of each and every features of its many controls. First, there were the Wii-mote, second there were the nunchuck attachment, and third, there were the Virtual Console(VC) controller for playing those VC games not to mention you can also use the GameCube controller on some of the VC and Wii titles. Now I can also add in one more product to that list, the Universal PlayStation 2(PS2) Controller Adapter.

When surfing the net to find new products for my Wii and GameCube, I happened to stumble upon this nifty item at EasyBuy2000.com. For one thing this item is quite cheap retailing at $20.00 per quantity, it looks okay but the description about that item had caught my interest. The description described the item as a universal adapter which meant it is compatible for more than one consoles and indeed it is. This adapter is compatible for playing on the GameCube, X-Box, and PC through the use of three different wires and socket. The first wire socket is a USB wire which can be plug into any PC that had USB plug-in, the second wire socket is an X-Box wire which can be plug-in to any X-Box controller slot, and finally the third wire socket is a GameCube wire which can be plug-in to any GameCube controller slot and there is also the main plug-in in which you can plug-in a PSOne or PS2 controller for use with any of the three wires. Since it is compatible with all three systems, I'm sure it might also be compatible with the Wii as well since it is GameCube compatible and the Wii is 100% compatible with every GameCube controllers both from first party and third parties. The best feature about this adapter is that instead of using an actual GameCube controller, X-Box S controller, or the PC keyboard and mouse to play games on their own consoles, players can actually plug-in any PSOne or PS2 Dual Shock or Dual Shock 2 controller for play on any of those three systems. I've tested this item only on my GameCube, Wii, and PC and I assured you it work perfectly well, the rumble features also work superbly on any games that had rumble features in them, each and every buttons are assigned to the correct buttons on any of Sony's controllers. You can even plug-in any PlayStation steering wheels, light guns, and such for play on those systems as well, but I haven't tested those so I guess it may or may not work properly with this product.

It's absolutely great using this adapter, just with this adapter, you can enjoy the entire library of games from GameCube, X-Box, and PC just with the use of a Dual Shock, even the Wii as well. Works great with GameCube titles like Capcom vs. SNK 2: EO and Bloody Roar: Primal Fury as well as any of the Mortal Kombat fighting games, it also work perfectly with any of the X-Box's fighting and racing game and the Dual Shock analog is 100% compatible with any analog feature use on both systems. When using this on a PC, you can use it for playing any downloaded emulator games or any software titles that requires the use of a controller. One downside with this product though is that it comes package with a floppy disk instead of a mini-CD, so if your computer doesn't had floppy-disk drive, you can't use the adapter at all unless if you can duplicate the data to a CD-R at a friend's PC that had floppy-disk drive, but if you are the people who got an X-Box and want a more comfortable controller for play instead of having to take the pain of a giant controller, or if you are a GameCube owner who just want to master any of those fighting games in a more comfortable way instead of using that small D-Pad on the GameCube controller, than this is the product for you. Experience all your GameCube and Wii titles, X-Box titles, and PC games as if they are play on the beloved PlayStation 2 and what could go wrong, with twenty bucks this item is a must buy for any GameCube, Wii, X-Box, and PC owners.
