Today I tried Utz Kettle Classics Crunch Potato Chips in a 22 oz bag. I didn't feel as guilty eating these potato chips since they are reduced fat, and I was actually quite pleasantly surprised by how much I like them! The Utz Kettle Classics Crunch Potato Chips contain 40% less fat than regular potato chips. Fat content has been reduced from 10 grams per 1 ounce serving for regular potato chips to 6 grams per 1 ounce serving for these reduced fat potato chips.
As I mentioned, I don't like flavored chips much so I was glad these were "plain." This bag of Utz Kettle Classics Potato Chips was "salt" flavored as chips are supposed to be. But wait . . . better than salty - they were flavored with sea salt. What a delightful flavor. Actually, I remember thinking as I was eating these potato chips that they taste quite a bit like french fries.
The Utz Kettle Classics Crunch Potato Chips are hand cooked in 100% pure peanut oil. Between the sea salt and the crunch, these firm, fried to perfection chips may be the best tasting potato chips I can remember having. One of the other qualities of the Utz Kettle Classics Crunch Potato Chips is that they are not the least bit oily. There wasn't even any oil on my fingers when I was done eating. That's probably why the chips have a nice, light taste.
Utz Kettle Classics Crunch Potato Chips contain 18 grams of carbohydrates and are made with no preservatives (including MSG). They contain no hydrogenated fat and don't add extra oil to the chips. A 1 ounce serving (about 20 chips) of these potato chips has 130 calories with about 50 calories from fat.
Utz Kettle Classics Potato Chips are also available in Regular, Smokin' Sweet, Sweet Potato, Jalapeno, Salt & Malt Vinegar and Dark Russet varieties. Based on how much I enjoyed the Reduced Fat variety, I will probably give the Regular and Sweet Potato a try. I also like the Grandma Utz Handcooked Potato Chips - but not as much as the Kettle Classics Crunch potato chips.
