Product Review: Vaseline Intensive Care Cocoa Butter Deep Conditioning Lotion

When I bought this lotion it was because it was on sale and it smelled like chocolate. Those two things are very important qualities, in my humble opinion. This new lotion from Vaseline comes in a large 24.5 pump dispenser bottle, and works wonders with keeping skin soft and moisturized. It has not irritated my sensitive skin, and has not triggered my fragrance sensitivities, either.

On the bottle it states that it is 'rich, hydrating lotion', and 'evens skin tone and texture'. It lists petroleum jelly and vitamin E as two key ingredients. The company's website claims that the product 'smoothes away roughness and the appearance of dark spots'.

I primarily use this lotion on my hands, elbows, and feet; and the difference has been surprisingly significant. I am used to lotions feeling greasy or not showing any real or lasting results. This lotion is very different from the rest. It should be noted that with all lotions, I start with a small amount to test how easily it may be applied and how quickly it will be absorbed. With this lotion, a little bit goes a long way; which adds to its cost value as well.

This lotion can be applied easily and smoothly, and absorbs quickly. It leaves skin feeling immediately smooth and silky. Dry skin seems to be immediately hydrated. The affects are long lasting, and have been cumulative in my case.

Having chronically dry and sensitive skin, it is important to me that I find a lotion that not only works, but also does not irritate my sensitive skin. I have found both in Vaseline's Intensive Care Cocoa Butter Deep Conditioning Lotion.

There is a light lingering scent of chocolate once the lotion is applied, which I find to be very pleasing. I have fragrance sensitivities, so I have to be careful about using scented products. I love chocolate and try, usually in vain, to find products with a chocolate scent. This lotion fits the bill in both cases.

A few of the ingredients in this cocoa butter lotion are: water, petroleum jelly, vitamin E, cocoa butter, shea butter, sunflower seed oil or soybean oil, and vitamin A.

I am exceedingly happy with this lotion, and will continue to buy and use it. What I would change about it is making a special formula with it for my face, and having the regular formula readily available in a small travel or purse size. If they make either (which I could not verify from their website), I cannot find it where I live.

I applied this product to my body before sunning and I am one big allergic welting mess! I'm not sure exactly what is in it that I'm allergic to, but I did apply it several weeks ago and got a little bumpy reaction, but dumb me, I decided to try it again and shouldn't have.
