Product Review: Vicks VapoRub Ointment

It has been proved that the product known as Vicks VapoRub is extremely effective for children in regards to coughs and colds but it is also effective for adults as well. It is awfully easy to apply, all you have to do is place a small bit of the ointment on the affected area such as the back, chest or even throat and it will immediately start to work. Right after you have applied it, you will start to feel a cooling sensation and the VapoRub has already begun its job. You will notice that your cough and cold will slowly start to diminish after you have begin using the this product.

It is good to apply the ointment at night right before bedtime. For me personally (along with other people I'm sure), I become more aware of my cold when I start to sleep with not being able to breathe as well as that annoying persistent coughing. So when I do apply it before bed, I know I won't have any problems trying to sleep. You might even want to put some type of clothing over the affected area after applying it. While it is great for coughs or cold, it is also excellent for sinus problems in general. You will notice after you have applied it, you will be able to breathe much better. Vicks VapoRub can even be used on muscles as well as joints that are painful. I've always had problems where my knees will begin to ache for some reason. This has gone on since I was quite young and found that products like this work very well to relieve the dull pain.

Vicks VapoRub is one of the more effective products on the market today. If you don't prefer to drink cough medicine, then this is an excellent product to use for yourself and your family. It is also great for women who are pregnant that worry about taking over the counter medication.

The active ingredients in Vicks VapoRub are Camphor at 4.8%, Menthol with a dose of 2.6% as well as Eucalyptus oil at 1.2%. All of them are known to suppress any coughing which is why it works so well. Inactive ingredients in the ointment include oils such as nutmeg, turpentine as well as cedarleaf.

You do have to be careful when using Vicks VapoRub. It does warn on the packaging that you must keep this ointment away from your nostrils, eyes, mouth, or on any part of your skin that is damaged such as cuts or sores.

I highly recommend Vicks VapoRub. Its always great to have around in the house or even when you travel because you will never know when you just might need it.
