Product Review: Vistaprint Business Cards

Sharon Tulley
I wanted some personal business cards to pass out as a writer with my website, email address, and cell phone number on them. I had heard of Vistaprint before. That you could get 250 free business cards and just pay the cost of shipping them to you. This sounded too good to be true. And you know they say if it sounds too good to be true, it is. But in this case I found out for myself that some things really are true when they sound good. The only apparent catch to me is that Vistaprint provides such good quality that they peak your curiosity to lure you into buying more. They sell themselves on the rest of their products.

I went to www.vistaprint.com and started looking around. I took them up on their offer for the 250 free full color business cards. All I did was pay the cost of shipping. I was more interested in low cost than I was interested in immediate results so I ordered the slowest delivery package. This total cost was the cost of shipping and it was only $5.25. I went through their tutorial type page of filling in just the optional fields of what I wanted the card to say. I initialed the page when it looked the way I wanted it to after picking out the design and I put it on my debit visa card. The slowest shipping time is estimated at 21 days after the order is put through but my cards actually arrived within two weeks.

When they arrived I was pleased with the cards. They looked just like I thought they would from the website I filled out the forms on. I'm a bit of a kid at heart and seeing my name, my poetry blog website and "writer/researcher" on a business card for me made me giggly. Okay, only a writer like me can get deliriously happy over a paper product such as a business card with my name on it, but maybe it gave me a little ego boost too, to think of myself officially as a writer.

To run some numbers for you, the free vistaprint business cards are quoted at a total price from the shipping of $5.25 for slow delivery which is quoted at 21 days, $8.95 for standard delivery which is quoted for 14 day delivery, $12.95 for "priority delivery" which is for seven day delivery, and $24.99 for "Rush delivery" which is quoted for 3 business days after the day you order them.

Thanks everyone for you comments! I had ordered the free with shipping/handling route and they have served me well! I do not know about any of the other options and I agree with Christie who commented that I don't mind their logo on them :-)

I have ordered from VistaPrint many times and have always been happy with the "free" products ($5.95 s/h). However, twice I have ordered cards at full-price and they were not right. VistaPrint has always refunded my money promptly, but I would stick to the free option.

ThINKplaza at http://thinkplaza.boomja.com lists a lot of companies who print business cards, brochures, etc.

Hi, just passing through and thought I'd pop in. Glad I read this, only this morning I ordered some cards, and 2 pens...AND a sticky note pad. They are good at selling one on the other items too. I can't wait until they arrive. Thanks for the headsup, it's a worry ordering things such as this online. Have a great evening. Kerry:)

Oh, the site that I was referring to is: http://businesscard-reviews.com/2007/review/vistaprint-free-cards-2/

Again, thank you for helping to clarify.

I agree that the price of $5.25 is perfectly reasonable for 250 business cards. However, I was under the impression that the cards cost $9.44 from a site about Vistaprint's cheap business cards. Can you please be more specific about the cards that you received? Thank you.

Good review. I love the VistaPrint business cards so much that I don't even mind their little message on the back of the cards. I've ordered the free 250 cards about three times now and the quality is always wonderful! Oh, and I get giggly each time my new stack of cards arrives also. LOL! ;-)
