Product Review: Web Developer Books, Visual Quick Start Guide Series

Rian Wing
The Visual QuickStart Guides series of books for web development are among the best books available for both inexperienced beginners all the way through seasoned web developers.

If you are looking for a series of books that will help you get started learning the basics for building your own personal webpage, then the HTML books are a great place to start. Once you are ready to move a bit beyond the basic, you can move into the XHTML, CSS, DHMTL, JAVA, and more.

This series of books is written in a clear language that is easy to understand. With step by step instructions, guides and examples, you will surely find everything you need in each of the books in the series. The back of the book includes a quick look up reference guide, which comes in handy for the experienced web developer looking for a quick answer to a question.

Below, I will briefly review two of the books from the Visual Quick Start Guide Series, however there are several books in the Visual Quick Start Guide series, as well as the Visual QuickPro Guides for the more advanced user, all available from Peachpit Press.

HTML for the World Wide Web with XHTML and CSS, Fifth Edition (Visual QuickStart Guide) (Paperback) by Elizabeth Castro

Okay, I read and write code, right? Why would I need a book like this? Well, honestly, I have to tell you, it's virtually impossible to remember everything you need to know. Plus, I write HTML, but DHTML and CSS took me a bit longer to wrap my brain around. Even though I use these concepts every day, I have to say, this book has been a great reference and resource for me when I'm building new sites.

It's written in a way that most people who have at least a basic knowledge of HTML can understand and includes a lot of fun things and samples you can use to play around with the code and tweak it to make it work like you want it to.

For the price, I'd have to say it's one handy book to have around, even if you get someone else to build your site, because with this knowledge, you can have a hand in your business website development too. For the individual or personal website builder, you could end up with a personal website that will WOW your friends and family.

I promoted a book earlier about basic html and stuff, and once you've made it past that, you are ready to get into the deep end. When you work up the nerve to make the leap, this book will help you get there.

Same as the other book, this book is easy to read, easy to understand, and great for a quick reference guide for those who are more advanced, or a step-by-step guide and introduction for those who are just learning.

Summary:

So there you have my impressions and recommendation for the entire Visual QuickStart Guide Series. All in all, a great overall product or series of books for web development.

Visit Amazon.com for more information about this series of books or other books available in the field of web development information and tools.
