I'm usually shop at Wal-Mart. I don't believe in expensive clothing, but for some strange reason, I'm a sucker for cosmetics. I try to stick to the Wal-Mart brands...you know, like Cover Girl, Maybelline, even N.Y.C. I've always heard rumors about M.A.C., which stands for Makeup Artists Cosmetics. Then I discovered a friend in college wearing this beautiful, vibrant shade of green. Of course, she told me it was M.A.C., and naturally, my curiosity peaked.
So I marched into a mall, walked over to the M.A.C. counter, and stared at the colors. You would not believe the array of different colors that are produced by M.A.C. They have over one hundred and fifty colors. It's needless to say that I was extremely overwhelmed, but more excited than anything. I chose two colors: Swimming (which is a lustrous scintillating sea green. And, I also purchased Crème de Violet, which is a frosty, vivid pinkish-violet that's flecked with tiny bits of gold shimmer. Unfortunately, M.A.C. did not carry any eye shadow applicators, so I had to purchase that elsewhere.
One little downfall that you may immediately notice regarding M.A.C. eye shadows is the prices. The price for each individual pot of M.A.C eye shadow can range from 12-18 dollars. This is actually one of the reasons why I tried my best to stay away from the M.A.C. eye shadows in the beginning. It could become a pretty expensive little addiction. But once you wear it and see how your whole faces brightens up with just a sweep of M.A.C. eye shadow, the price isn't going to be a factor....unless you buy all one hundred and sixty M.A.C. eye shadows! Tempting, of course! But that can be a HUGE 'ouch' factor to your wallet book!
The M.A.C. eye shadows come in little black pots that are 15 centimeters deep and four centimeters across. The little black pots are easy to open with their little effortless snaps which are extremely convenient. Also, M.A.C. eye shadows have a little clear window built in the pot of eye shadow so that you may see which color you are going to use...which would come in extremely handy when you're trying to dig through your black hole (also known as your purse!) in an effort to find what makeup pieces you wish to apply for that day.
When you finally get around to having the M.A.C. eye shadow in your hand and a good quality applicator, you'll notice that when you apply your M.A.C eye shadow, the product will go on so smoothly. You don't even have to use too much to cause a huge effect. I kind of made the mistake of rubbing my applicator too hard upon the surface of the M.A.C. eye shadow. That's usually what I do with store-brand eye shadows...it seems that you have to rub a little harder to even get some color to attach to the applicator wand! But with the M.A.C eye shadows, one little swipe will do the trick. No packing on of eye shadow required. That's a good thing in the long run because it will help your M.A.C. eye shadow last longer than it already does.
If you don't feel like lugging a makeup bag around, you don't have to! Not once during the day will you find a need to have to re-apply your M.A.C. eye shadow. M.A.C. eye shadows have strong staying power, and the vibrancy of the color lasts for most of the day.
Earlier, we mentioned the overwhelming rainbow of colors that M.A.C. eye shadows range from. All these eye shadows have their own texture as well. The eye shadow finishes are frost, luster, matte, satin, veluxe, veluxe pearl, and velvet. Pretty impressive, huh? Well, now you must be educated on what each of these finishes represents in order to choose a look that's right for you when you visit the M.A.C. cosmetic counter yourself. Frost gives very iridescent shine that adds a highlighting effect to any color. Lustre is represented by M.A.C eye shadow that is smooth and pearlized. Lustre M.A.C eye shadows are frosted in nature and have a very fine "conditioned" finish. Matte eye shadow is a high color in a finish that has absolutely no shine. This is for those ladies out there who hate anything with shine or glitters. It's just pure, highly pigmented, beautiful color. The Satin finish is also pure color, but, of course, in a satin-finish style. It's light refractive, and has no frosting effect. The color is usually very soft and subtle for those who are a little shy but want to be noticed! Veluxe Pearl M.A.C. eye shadows are a shimmering metallic huge, which is also velvety soft and quite vibrant in color. It also has a high-shine color with very vibrant tones! Veluxe itself is very fine pigmented color which is quite rich and supple to apply. It produces a matte finish, but with a silky and smooth appearance. Finally, we have the velvet M.A.C. texture for eye shadows. Velvet will give you a very soft look with high color intensity. Velvet also has a very post velvety look and appearance.
I have received more compliments on my first week wearing my M.A.C. eye shadows than I have ever had wearing drug-store brands in my life! You may think that's an exaggeration, but the proof is in the pudding. (Your face provides the canvas for the figurative pudding, of course!) Once you try M.A.C, you may just never go back to what you used to use! It has to be due to the fact that the colors are so vibrant and fully pigmented, or how the M.A.C. eye shadows have perfect blend ability. Maybe you'll love how the M.A.C eye shadows don't crease in your lid, or how the silky look earns you second glances.
Not like I'm a hard hitting vegan or anything, (and if you happen to be, there's nothing wrong with that!), but I love that M.A.C. does not test on animals when developing cosmetics, and also it's respectable that M.A.C's Viva Glam line has raised so much money for HIV and AIDS treatment since 1994. The final question is this: would I recommend M.A.C. eye shadow to you? The verdict: Of course I would! All you have to do is skimp on a few Frappachino's at Starbucks and pocket that money for the next time you go to the mall. Ask for a trial run of the colors you love, or even ask for advice on what colors complement your eyes and skin tones! You'll be amazed at what a difference a little beautiful, velvety pigment could make. Mix, blend, match...be crazy! Give it a whirl; you can't go wrong with M.A.C!

Post a CommentRecently I stepped into Sephora, I did see the Urban Decay brands, and they were truly rich, incredible colors. But- you cannot find anything cheap which is absolutely ridiculous. After my visit to the store, I ended up going to the MAC store right after. Needless to say I didn't buy anything there. These makeup stores have great beauty products, but if they want more sold, they should keep in mind the recession that's going on and lower they're prices. Usually I stick to to Maybelline, Covergirl, and NYC. I have 1 high priced eyeshadow- 1. And you know what? The shadow I bought was Midnight Cowboy by Urban Decay and I was suckered into buying 18.00! Once I tried it out at home for the first time, i knew it was a mistake because not long later, there was sparkles from the shadow all over my cheekbones! All I have to say ladies is, stick to the cheaper ones.
