Product Review: Wii Fit is it Worth the Money?

What's All the Hullabulu Over This Wii Fit Game?

Marie M. Daniels
Wii Fit for the Nintendo Wii has been a kind of health craze game. It really isn't marketed as an exercise machine or weight loss aid, but people see to see it as such. For a while the Wii Fit were sold out in stores and difficult to obtain. The Wii Fit and Balance Board set are still not abundantly available but becoming more so daily.

Once you put the Wii Fit game into the Wii console you need to set up your profile. One nice feature is that you can password protect your weight and BMI (Body Mass Index) if you don't want the next person who plays to see your info.

The Wii Fit video game starts out with four different selections: Yoga, Strength Training, Balance Games and Aerobics. The yoga and strength are simply what their names imply, yoga moves and strength training positions. The balance games and aerobics are where the fun comes into play. In each selection you are given a few open choices of games to play. By racking up Wii Fit tokens in your piggy bank you are then able to unlock more yoga poses and games.

Some of the fun games that are included with the Wii Fit are: Hula Hoops, Step Class, Running, Boxing, Skiing and Snowboarding. There are other shorter games that are somewhat fun but it really depends on the person. If you are a person with excellent posture and balance you may like the balance games. While playing the balance games your body becomes the controller and your Mii will move according to how you move on the balance board.

You can also use the balance board with other Nintendo Wii video games. The fact that the balance board can be used again makes the price you paid a little better value. Some of the Wii video games that you can use the Wii Fit Balance Board with are: EA Sports Active, My Fitness Coach, We Ski and Snowboard, Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party, All Star Cheer Squad and many others. As you can see from the names, some of the games that can be used with the balance board are for fun and some are for fitness.

Can you lose weight with the Wii Fit? Probably, but you will also need to go on a calorie restricted diet. Then you will need to force yourself to use the Wii Fit 3 to 6 times a week for 20 to 45 minutes. You would need to play the aerobic type games that actually burn calories. All the while trying not to get bored of the games, which could be hard to accomplish.

My Review: Would I buy it all over again if I had the chance? Yes! Our whole family really enjoys the Wii Fit and the Balance Board. Although, it is just like any other game, it's fun at the beginning when everything about it is new. But, you will eventually open all of the locked games, beat them and get tired of playing them, just like any other game.
