Product Review- Wild Mountain Papaya Extract
Papayay Extract is Said to Be the Nuritional Way to Help Prevent Disease
Over the next few months, I will share my findings on several products that claim to be nutritionally beneficial. My product reviews will include organic food, supplements, bath and beauty products and natural foods. The subject of today's review is the "Fermented Wild Mountain Papaya Extract" from Pristine Herbal Touch.
Pristine Herbal Touch makes a Wild Papaya Enzyme Powder that boasts of variety of wild papaya from the Philippines. Pristine claim they blend the papaya fruit, along with the flowers, seeds and skin in a "the right proportion to give the optimum amount of anti-oxidants and enzymes possible". Traditional Japanese fermentation techniques are used to make a fermented papaya syrup. The syrup is then blended into small granules and packaged into small 3 gram packages. The extract powder is not only simple and easy to take, but has a pleasant taste and is easily absorbed in the bloodstream on an empty stomach.
BENEFITS
The benefits of the Papaya Extract Powder are many. Microbiologists for Pristine claim the product contains the following nutrients:
Anti-Oxidant Enzymes- The granules contain an enzyme which eradicate the damaging free radical, hydroxyl peroxide. Pristine further claims that the enzyme neutralizes up to 98% of hydroxl peroxides.
Digestive Enzymes- Pristine Papaya Enzyme Powder contain a large amount of enzymes that improve digestion and absorption of nutrients. They further reduce stress digestive process, help to maintain pH levels in the body and promote the growth of healthy intestinal flora. The powder also promotes regular bowel movement and helps restore the body's natural enzyme balance.
Anti-Inflammatory- The anti-inflammatory properties of the Pristine Papaya Extract increases the rate which the body repairs itself, by allowing blood vessels to "unclog".
Pristine also claims that the product can help the respiratory system by decreasing the swelling of bronchial mucosa. It also helps by breaking down phlegm and other secretions in the respiratory system. They also claim that if feel a cold or flu coming on, to double the daily dosage before breakfast (6 grams/2packets) and continue taking two packets every four hours until you feel well.
OBSERVATIONS
In conjunction with eating a semi-organic diet and cutting out most artificial sweeteners, I began using this product more than eight months ago. The product should be taken twice a day on an empty stomach. I found it easy to take the product in the morning, before breakfast. But fitting in the second dose was not quite as easy.
Taking the product is simple, empty the 3 gram sachet under your tongue. It dissolves in mutes and has a pleasant taste.
During the time I took daily doses of this product, I did find that the claims of the digestive benefits to be correct. Not only did I believe my digestive system to be very healthy, but bowel movements were very regular and I had no sign of heart burn. Even when I was unable to eat my usually healthy diet, all it took was one dose of the Papaya granules to kick my digestive process into gear. Bloating, and general stomach uneasiness seemed to disappear within an hour or two.
There was a short period where I did not have the product and while waiting for a replacement order, I came down with what I believe to be the swine flu. I ran a high fever, with a post-nasal drip that began turning into a cough. Two days after I became sick (my youngest child was also ill with the same symptoms) my order from Pristine arrived. I began giving my son a 2 gram (one packet dose) and within eight hours of his initial dose, his fever was gone and he showed no signs of the flu that had him in bed sleeping all day.
I began taking double doses and twelve hours after taking the initial dosage, I knew that when I woke up the next morning, I would be feeling better. Perhaps it was only a coincidence and the flu had run it's course, but the difference between how we felt prior to taking the Papaya Enzyme granules ( absolutely no energy or appetite, high fevers and a bad cough) and how we felt within several hours later ( my son was playing with his toys, fever and cough gone, and his appetite was back... I took a few hours longer, but my fever never came back after the second dose and my energy level was better. The next day, other than the sluggish feeling after not eating much for 2 days, I had no symptoms of the illness....none) Maybe a coincidence or perhaps a combination of eating healthy foods and taking supplements such as the Wild Mountain Papaya Extract helped my son and I to recover faster.
The price of a one month supply of Pristine Herbal Touch's Wild Mountain Papaya Anti-Oxidant Enzyme Powder will run approximately $50 plus shipping. The company recommends taking 2 packets every day, on an empty stomach. I found this tough to do all the time, but I do take a daily dose in the morning and found digestive benefits within three days. I do not believe the benefits would be as dramatic without a healthy diet, but I do believe the product does deliver digestive and respiratory benefits. I also have fewer allergy issues than in past years and I fully believe this product helped me recover quicker from the flu this past spring.
A sweet tasting, easy-to-take product that is quickly absorbed and it helps keep the immune system, respiratory systems strong, while aiding the digestive system and increasing energy. I have found much, if not all of Pristine's claims to be true (with NO side effects) and I will have a back-up supply on hand for the fall and winter flu season.
A recommended food supplement.
All benefit claims are from Pristine Herbal Touch. Their product information and website were used for benefit information used in this article. The observations are solely my opinions of how the product has worked for my myself and a family member while ill.
