Product Review: Wonka Sweetarts Rope

Bridget Ilene Delaney
Explanation of the product:

The product comes in a bag that is lined with a lime green color. Then the center of the bag is two different colors that are split right in the middle. It is this way on both the front and the back of the bag. The left side is blue and the right side is green.

The word "SweeTarts" is on the front of the bag in the traditional way it is usually written. The color is halved right down the T. It is pink and outlined in white on the blue side and blue outlined in white on the pink side. The word "Rope" is underneath "SweeTarts" in yellow and outlined in green in purple.

"Wonka" with the hat logo appears above the S. Above the word "Tarts," it says "Tangy Candy."

On the low right side of the pink area, it says, "2 Chewy Ropes with Wonka Nerds."

What the product promises:

There really is not any promise other than that the product is tangy candy.

What the product offers:

When the package is opened, it is obvious that there are two "SweeTarts Ropes" as it says. In fact, they look like smooth Twizzlers. They are even red like Twizzlers. However, they smell like sweet tarts. When one of the ropes is taken out of the package, it does not look much like a rope, but rather like a red tube. In it, there is a blue filling. From just a slight touch, the blue filling is extremely soft.

The tube is quite rubbery. It has a bit of the strawberry taste like Twizzlers, but it is not much at all. The soft blue filling is quite tart as it is softened sweet tart filling.

In it, there are nerds, so it sometimes becomes a bit sweeter and much crunchier.

The three textures together are extremely different. The nice part about the product is that there are only two grams of fat. However, there are 25 grams of sugar. It is still not too bad.

Is it worth it?

This product is not really worth buying if you want a quality product. If you honestly want a good quality product like this, you are probably better off buying some nerds, sweet tarts, and twizzlers. Then you should break them up into pieces, smash the sweet tarts into dust in a bowl, add a few drops of water, and mix them all together.

If this product is bought for just a quick sugar fix, it is a good fit. However, if you want the sweetnees and tartness, just buy some normal sweet tarts which are better than this product.

I don't eat much candy but after trying the Sweetart Ropes, I am hooked. They are best when they are warm and soft. I can't find them anywhere and have already purchased all of them where I live. Sweetart Ropes have become my new favorite candy but I can't find them anywhere. Help??

They sure look neat on the package but I won't be buying them. They sound horrible! Especially one of your friend's comments about them!

I'm a big sweettarts fan, so I tried out the ropes when I saw it in the store. It seriously does taste like puke. At first you don't really realize it, and just think, this tastes kind of acidic and sour, and you think, "I've tasted this before." Then you realize, "oh yeah, this is what it tastes like when I throw up a little bit in my mouth." Rob is totally right on this one. They nailed the gross acidic puke taste perfectly. I'll stick to plain ol' sweettarts and leave the "sweetbarfs vomit ropes" alone.

Good review. I don't think I have seen these anywhere yet.

They really do taste like barf... they even leave a nasty acidic after taste as if you had just threw up. Extremly disgusting... I can't believe it ever made it to market. Do they not taste test things before they make millions of them and ship them around? or did the taste testers say "Oh joy, puke sticks!" yumm..... not.
