Product Review: Wylde Pretzels

Genie Walker
This is a wonderful tasting snack that is wheat free, gluten free, milk free, lactose free, egg free, soy free, cholesterol free and kosher certified. I confess I haven't eaten regular pretzels in 4 years or so, but these taste so close to what I remember pretzels tasting like. Although these pretzels have the big salt grains on the outside of the pretzels like the regular ones they are not as salty. You do get a crisp crunchy texture, but instead of the tradition twisty shape it is a small circle. I don't know why the shape is different, but it doesn't affect the taste unless you are a visual oriented person and can't deal with odd shaped pretzels.

I like that the serving size is 40 pretzels so that I can eat a lot of them and not feel guilty about it. For those of you, who are watching your carbs it about 1.5 carbs per serving. If I limit myself to about 25 or so I'm feeling righteous because I'm not eating the whole serving size amount and I am keeping close to 1 carb. I just noticed that the bag I bought September 8th, 2007 has a date of June 12, 2009 so they do last a while. Since I usually eat a bag in a month's time I can not testify to the long range storage ability of the pretzels.

Nutritional information: Serving size: 40 pretzels (4 servings per container); 130 calories (30 from fat); Total fat: 3.5g (2g saturated fat & 0 trans fat); 0 cholesterol; 230mg sodium); Total carbohydrate 24 g (3g dietary fiber & 1g sugars); and less than 1 gram protein.

Purchase price: I buy them from my local Kroger's for $1.99 for a 4 oz bag. Ener-G has a store finder to locate the nearest store to you that sells their products. You can buy them online from Ener-G in two different sizes: 4 oz. is $1.99 a bag and 8 oz. is $3.22 a bag.

When I looked at the photo I took of the pretzels after I emptied what was left in the bag; I noticed that there was only one broken pretzel. That's a little unusual isn't it? The only way I can think of to make these pretzels better would be if they were covered in yogurt. I miss yogurt covered pretzels. I hope somebody at Ener-G is reading this and thinks it is a great idea too.
