Product Review: Xhilaration Tosca Madras Wedges Shoes from Target Online
Darling and Dangerous Summer Shoes
These Xhilaration Tosca Madras Wedge shoes are even more gorgeous than the photo I saw (or took) shows, and they are extremely comfortable. The entire shoe is elevated at least 1 1/2 inches, with the elevation increasing closer to the heel section to 4 1/4 inches. They have a buckle clasp at the ankle with a slight stretch to it. The clasp itself is very small, and may be difficult to use if you have any kind of finger or hand dexterity issues . . .or vision issues. It took me a few minutes to get a hole aligned properly in order to use the buckle closure, on each shoe.
The surface the foot rests upon is adequately sized, however, immediately under that surface, the heel and support of the wedge shoe narrows. This naturally lends itself to an increased risk in twisting an ankle or falling. The difference was not noticeable in the photo online, but in person, it is. Those who have difficulty walking in high heels or who have balance issues may not like these shoes as they do not give the kind of solid walking support they could if the heel and support were a bit wider.
Xhilaration Tosca Madras Wedges are perfect for sitting for long periods of time as they elevate the foot, leg, and knee enough to take stress off hip and lower back joints. They also are perfect for standing for long periods of time as they truly are very comfortable in their build and the angle at which the foot rests.
For walking on uneven surfaces, the wedges could be a hazard due to the narrowing heel and support. For dancing or anything else that requires a lot of body shifting, I would use extreme caution for the same reason.
I really like Xhilaration Tosca Madras Wedge shoes, but they are not quite what I hoped they would be as far as more daily wear. As someone who wears shoes and boots with a similar heel and elevation construction for every day wear, I was disappointed with these shoes due to them being more about looks than safety.
I give them a 3 out of 5 star rating.

Post a CommentI was able to buy a nice pair in a similar style as yours (but more balance friendly ) at a wonderful off-season price a couple of weeks ago...I was thrilled, too. Thanks for reminding me about Target Online though...haven't visited in quite awhile. (uh oh) :-)
