The reed diffuser concept is not new-I remember seeing similar products in stores years ago. Basically, you start with a bottle of scented oil that reeds (small, wooden sticks) are placed into. The reeds soak up the oil and become "wet," and these wet reeds are what release fragrance into the air. Many companies have recently come out with their own lines of reed diffusers, and one of the first things I noticed about the Yankee Candle reed diffuser was how much bigger it was than most of the other ones I had seen. The reed diffuser from Yankee Candle was about 13" from top to bottom, and most of the other diffusers I had seen were no more than half that size. Also, Yankee seemed to offer a much greater variety of fragrances than any of the other companies, which was another bonus.
After unpacking the product, you just unscrew the lid from the bottle of oil and place the 10 included reeds inside the bottle. It takes a couple of hours for the reeds to really start to absorb the scented oil, but when it really gets going, the Yankee Candle reed diffuser releases a surprising amount of fragrance. The diffuser would probably not create enough scent for a very large space, but it seems like the perfect air freshener option for smaller spaces, like powder rooms or dens. I put mine in our guest bathroom, and everyone that has used that bathroom has commented on how wonderful it smelled, so I guess the product really works.
At $19.99, the reed diffusers from Yankee Candle might cost a little more than some other company's, but I think the size of the Yankee Candle diffuser easily makes up for any cost difference. Although the product packaging says the reed diffuser will last for "several weeks," I have had mine out for almost 3 months now and it is still going strong. At this point in time, refills of oil are not offered for the Yankee Candle reed diffusers, so when one runs out, you have to buy a whole new one. But if you're looking to add fragrance to a small space without burning a candle, the Yankee Candle Reed Diffuser might just be the product you've been searching for!

Post a CommentI originally wanted to purchase the Maison brand reed diffuser but the store no longer carried that brand. I was VERY pleased with Maison and it had lasted me about 9 months. The Maison oil was highly concentrated and the room was filled with the sweet scent of the huneysuckle essential oil. I opted for the Yankee brand diffuser because of the name. As soon as I got home I set it up and waited two days and switched the reeds around a couple of times only to realize how disappointing this product really was. No trace of the scent was noticeable unless you got on top of the bottle and inhaled. It seemed the biggest problem was the concentration of the oil. The oil was extremely diluted hence the reason the room never filled up with the scent it should have. In addition, the room was quite small. Never again will I purchase this brand product. Very disappointed.
I bought a Yankee candle reed diffuser to put in our porch. It is a small area and I do turn the reeds but still can't smell it. Won't do it again. Waste of money!!
I had a Yankee candle diffuser on top of my roll top oak desk and my kitty accidentally knocked it over. What can I use to clean it off of my oak desk?
Be VERY careful not to spill the liquid. My niece accidentally knocked ours over, and it ate through the paint on our table. Right down to the wood, totally ruined the table.
Might give these a try. There are many yankee scents that i really love but I%27m done shelling out for the large jar candles. Don%27t know what they%27ve changed but you can barely smell them even in a small room. I tried for the last time recently..won%27t do it again.
That's because you're supposed to flip the reeds around after 24-48 hours and then once a week after that in order to renew the scent. Did you read the box?
I actually don't buy Yankee candles anymore. Their quality has gone downhill.
I have used this Yankee Candle Reed diffuser and have found that it doesn't smell at all after only a few days.
It seems like the reeds clog up, or something.... It was the worst 20 bucks I've spent!
i recently purchased a yankee candle diffuser while travelIng on the road.. i bought it on a whim..thinking that i dont' like to burn candles much anymore . I LOVE THE DIFFUSER. it is great, and the smell wanders around delicately. i thinks its a great alternative to candles. i also use the frebrese automatic diffuser and they are both good.. i have pets and having a nice smelling home is a plus...
Be sure you don't get the liquid in your drains if you have PVC type pipes. It'll eat the PVC.
