Business Owners:
If you are in business you can set up a Facebook fan page, use it to announce special sales for your store. You can also make postings of incoming shipments to get your customers psyched. Take some photographs of displays and other items in your store and post them on your wall. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. Show your customers what you have rather than telling them.
Listing your store on Facebook is free advertising and the 'word of mouth' you can receive is unlimited. Simply add your fan page on your business card or fliers and word will spread quicker than you can imagine.
Authors:
If you are a freelance writer, having an author profile will allow you to promote a book you have written, or collaborated in. It allows your fans to promote or discuss your book, as in depth as needed. You can also let fans that have not purchased your book, know where to purchase it.
In addition, if you do content writing you can promote your articles on the author site, which would allow you to keep your personal profile for personal information. If you choose to promote your articles on both accounts this is fine, as its twice as many links for you.
Non-Profits
If you were involved with a non-profit page, having a fan page for that organization would help you spread your mission. It would also allow you to keep in touch with your volunteers. The discussion potion of a fan site would allow those interested to communicate with you as well as each other.
Reunions
If you are the secretary of your high school class or the one in charge for any type of reunion can make a fan page too keep that information gathered. Those involved can use the discussion area to discuss the event or to share information as well as to post photos.
As one can see, there are many uses to a Facebook fan page. Try it out and see what I mean.
