Profiling Joran Van Der Sloot and Stephany Flores' Final Hours: What Went Down from 5 A.M. To 9 A.M

Profiling Joran and Stephany's Final Hours in Lima Hotel

Radell Smith
Joran Van der Sloot and Stephany Flores have been seen on the Lima hotel security tape entering Joran's hotel room at 5 a.m. on Monday, May 30, 2010, according to the Associated Press and others. But little has been pieced together by the public of the hours between then and when Van der Sloot exited that room alone four hours later at 9 a.m.

Timeline of Events Starting With Casino Exit

Van der Sloot and Flores were both willing participants in the activities that initially followed them leaving a Lima casino together. Video footage being aired shows Stephany and Joran exiting the casino and leaving together, walking side by side, without any obvious force on Joran's part.

Then, at 5 a.m., security video cameras at Joran's hotel of residence in Lima capture Joran leading the way to get his room key and march off to his hotel room. Stephany, not being carried, propelled or otherwise intimidated in any way, is seen trailing along behind Joran, her head bent almost in embarrasment.

Arrival at Hotel

In the hotel security camera, Joran doesn't seem to be too concerned about whether Stephany Flores will follow him willingly into the hotel room. He opens the door, leaving it ajar for her to enter. And Stephany does.

The last visual we have is of Stephany crossing that room's threshold, in total control of herself, without any prompting from the man who would allegedly take her life mere hours later. No reported noise is heard from other room occupants during this time, and for 3 hours and ten minutes, there is no evidence in the hallway that anything untoward is going on in the room.

Joran Leaves the Hotel for the FIRST Time

It has been reported that Joran Van der Sloot exited the hotel in Lima at 9 a.m., and while that is true--it isn't true that this was Joran's first foray from that room after he and Stephany first went in hours earlier.

Van der Sloot exited the hotel room at 8:10 a.m., according to an Associated Press report just released today in the news. And Joran's reason for leaving the room, alone, was to obtain coffee and bread. Making his way to the supermarket across the street from the hotel, Joran purchased two cups of coffee and the desired bread before returning to the hotel room.

Van der Sloot's Return and the Final Piece of the Puzzle

If Joran had already murdered Stephany Flores prior to his 8:10 a.m. departure for coffee and bread, that would indicate the Dutchman was able to clean himself up, get composed, and trek over to the supermarket to feed his growing hunger for food. It isn't uncommon for psychopaths to be able to sit down and consume a meal or go about their business nonchalantly after committing atrocious crimes of murder, so Van der Sloot could have done that.

However, it makes more sense that Stephany Flores took that short time window to start snooping on Joran's computer and happened upon what she eventually found: Natalee Holloway information.

Stephany and Joran at Heads

When Joran returned with coffee and bread and discovered Stephany had violated his private space, a space that most likely contained incriminating evidence, Van der Sloot likely lost it.

He had approximately less than 1 hour in which to enter that room for a second time, get into an altercation with Flores, beat her to death, grab up his bloody clothes, clean up himself and change, and exit that room. That is, basically, what he is telling us with his confession: I caught her snooping, I confronted her, and I lost it.

they have since established that the entire coffee thing was part of a desperate and futile attempt to create an alibi for himself. he is seen leaving the room with 2 empty coffee cups, putting the room key into his pocket, then calling hotel staff and pretending like he was locked out of the room and needed to be let in.

i find it hard to believe that she was on his computer to find out about him, she knew who he was already. wouldn't she need his password to get into his files?

FYI: This profile was written two days before the world learned that Joran did, indeed, eat alone after killing Stephany...and over her dead body.

What do the computer forensics say was accessed on jorans computer during the time he left for coffee? Could she have been there to buy marijuana, which he is supposed to have smoked that day?
