ProFlowers.Com Review - Delivering Happiness Without a Hassle

Rise to the Occasion with Roses and More!

Andrew Berry
Valentine's Day is one of those days where us guys (generally speaking) have to buy flowers, chocolates, and a personally-written card for their wife/girlfriend/ect. With today's stresses and time-consuming responsibilities, not many of us have the time to go to a florist, check out flowers, choose an arrangement, choose chocolates, and write a hand-written card. It doesn't mean that we don't care, but finding the time may be difficult.

Let me take this time to state that yes, I know that flowers can be sent for an array of occasions - weddings, holidays, funerals, and other special occasions, and not just Valentine's Day. But, readers, I digress in my romance-infused adventure to allocate flowers, and other items to prove my love in a tangible manner.

One night I was watching television (Comedy Central to be exact) when the commercial for ProFlowers.com came on. Initially I was skeptical - low prices, delivery, and an array of presents? It seems like a scam of some sort. What ProFlowers.com was offering looked as if it exceeded $100 (including delivery), but what did I have to lose? By the time I decided to look into them there was still ample time for the delivery, and I know how pricey it can be to get a personal florist to deliver to a specific location.

So I went further, especially since the commercial was running a promo for $40 that included roses, a vase, chocolates, and an assortment of spa trinkets such as bath beads. I'll be completely honest - the amount they gave was overwhelming for the $40 price tag. Tack on the fact that they delivered to any location - residential OR commercial - and I thought I had found a winner of a website.

I dug through the website, but ended up using the original deal for $40. Of course what followed was tons of data input - my address, my credit card number and date, my phone number, the delivery address, whether it was residential or commercial, their phone number, and so on. The process took about 20 minutes or so, which, in comparison to going out and doing it all myself, isn't bad at all.

These days it's hard to find an honest business - many of them have flaws, and ProFlowers.com is no different. Yes, the website did offer their package of flowers/chocolates/spa assortments and delivery on Valentine's Day for a base price of $40 (with the promotional code). However, what they did do was boost fees and shipping prices to the point that my order of $40 almost doubled to a total of $77.07.

Here's a rundown of my bill altogether, word for word:

"Order Details:
Deluxe Romance Package: one Dozen Red Roses + Vase, Chocolates & Spa Trio - $39.99
Elegant Ruby (Vase) - $0
Lavender Spa Trio - $0
Rocky Mountain Chocolates - $0
Standard Shipping - $9.99
Morning Delivery - $14.99
Guaranteed Valentine's Day Delivery - $2.99
Care and Handling - $2.99
Tax - $6.12"

So, for those of us ordering for Valentine's Day morning and want "guaranteed delivery" had to dish out almost double of the initial cost that ProFlowers.com conveyed.

Overall, I can't complain too much. Yes, they inflated their prices a bit when it came to shipping, but having the peace of mind that the company guaranteed the delivery to my girlfriend's work alleviated the stress from my shoulders. No longer did I have to worry about running out of work and grabbing all of these items, caring for these items, or even delivering these items to her job. All in all, I consider these other fees convenience fees and I gladly paid them, and would do so again.

Not only is my girlfriend extremely happy, but she is also the envy of her office, and all I had to do was point, click, pay, and wait.
