Progressives Favor MIddle East Revolutions

Snidely Whiplash
For folks who claim to be so loving and touchy-feely, they sure are all for revolution in the Middle East. Why? Couldn't be because unrest in the oil rich Mid East makes oil less attractive, right? Increases the use of public transport, doesn't it? Does this not put an end to the myth that they are all for love and getting along and what's best for all people? If they are all for advocating for Middle East revolutions, how do they counter their clear opposition to Bush's "regime change?" How can they talk so glaringly out of both sides of their mouth and damned near at the same time?

To hear progressives, revolution in the Middle East is justified, but Bush freeing 25 million oppressed Iraqi's from a murderous despot was "war for oil, regime change and getting even cause he tried to kill Bush's father." How odd of them. And what about the fact that Saddam did export his murderous nature to other nations as in the war with Iran and his invasion of Kuwait? What about all that "equal rights; the rights of women" and all that stuff? Rape rooms? So we should not prevent such murder and torture, but if lefty based radicals want regime change in the Middle East we must accept that, huh? And don't forget, who was it who proudly likened the Wisconsin mess to the Egypt revolution? Oh how proud they were! Such cute little Marxists, aren't they?

Recall the coup in Honduras when conservatives ousted the Marxist. The left went ape at that revolution, no? Recall the left being angry at US intervention to try and overthrow the Marxist Daniel Ortega in Nicaragua . Now compare that to the lefties being all for revolution in Egypt and Libya. Can you say hypocrites? See, it's about ideology and not principle to a lefty, as seemingly they have few principles - whatever serves their end is good and what does not is bad - at least they are consistently hypocritical!

So it's only "US empirical meddling" if we support a government the left does not agree with. If we were to advocate for regime change the left favored they'd be all for it. Are lefties as transparent as a picture window? If we'd have supported the Honduran leftist in 2009 they'd have been good with it. But once the rightest military ousted the dictator in a bloodless coup, well that is just not cool, huh?

I am afraid but for media supporting their leftist friends the left as an American politically viable movement would be DOA and that would be my preference. They're only consistent in their complete inconsistency. They're all love and emotion if it serves their end. Where is all the love for fellow Americans who do not agree with their ideology? Where is the respect for the right of all points of view? The left pays tons of lip service to that one until a conservative speaks up, then it's "Tea Parties are racist, violent, stupid, etc." And who is it who incessantly calls for curbs on free speech...CONSERVATIVE free speech, that is?

They sure don't seem as smart as the self-proclaimed "smartest people in the room." Lastly, I will not do as some who try to not indict lefties for what they are...they are NOT American patriots. American patriots first and foremost support the nation above all else. Patriots do not seek to tear us down and force their desired change upon a huge majority clearly not in favor. Oh, and American patriots support the Constitution above all other disagreement, but clearly based on their words, they only support Constitutional principles that serve them.

They ARE NOT American patriots. They are only ideologically interested when their desires are met. Human suffering is a concern only so far as it serves their ends, I could have sworn any regime change was bad and not the business of the US, so they told us, yet now they are all for it. If one cannot see through their rhetoric and hypocrisy, one is just not paying a lick of attention. They favor every revolution that favors a leftist or one that might create the vacuum that allows leftism to flourish, but if it runs the risk of a rightest government manifesting, why then the left is firmly against it. Blatantly self serving is what that is.

Whether things are "okay" the way they are or not, a bigger, bloated, more corrupt government is NOT the answer. Only individual liberties and a free market can solve these problems. Bigger government has been the cause of most of our ills.

As well I wanted to highlight how the revolution the left favors has an ulterior motive...it is not merely for the freedom of oppressed peoples...were it Iraq would have been a "good" war. It is because unrest in the oil region serves lefty green desires as well as often creates the vacuum which radical leftism so thrives in. I believe my points were overtly obvious and point to clear connections. But no, I do not believe all is perfect as it is,but I damn sure don't believe we can "touchy-feely" our way to worldwide love, fairness and equity and I don't think an educated man as yourself believes it either, although you may hope for it as you will Sir.

No David, the world is far from perfect Sir, but I have no expectation otherwise. I still would prefer consistency over pure hopeful political opportunism and that is my appraisal of these events thus far.Recall the "Don't make your morals my laws" mantra from the left in the 80's. Yet now we have enjoyed the left enacting "social" legislation, some by executive order and much by regulation, that is precisely leftist morals being codified into law as much as possible. Do you disagree that is occurring? Why does the left favor some revolution, and it's "freedom," yet when a rightie forwards such, it's "warmongering" or "war for oil or empire?" Hypocrisy? Damn sure is and THAT'S what I was pointing out Sir.

maybe conservatives believe things were good the way they used to be not the way they are now

More reasons for me to hate politics. The hypocrism that runs rampant in politics drives me nuts. Blech!

And Conservatives think that things there are OK the way they are? Even I don't believe you really believe that one, Jim.
