Progressives, Media, Tell World Only Racists Oppose Ground Zero Mosque

Snidely Whiplash
The news is filled with the mosque at Ground Zero and it's all basically the same - if you are for the mosque being built, you're a healer; if not, you're a racist. This has gone just about far enough.

Imam Rauf who travels the world on the taxpayer's dime has given TWO interviews where he issued a rather blatant threat that if we do not handle this correctly (whatever that is), the Muslim world will explode in violence over the issue. The Florida pastor who had threatened to burn the Koran didn't help matters any either, but he has retracted the Koran burning threat, so let's examine what the Imam's threats mean.

Since when do people in other lands get to threaten us with violence if we do not do what they wish, and especially about a domestic issue? This is not a foreign policy deal - this is a domestic issue, so what business is it of anyone in another country?

I will refrain form my usual sarcasm and get to the meat. Go the Hell on and get upset. When Muslim's start letting Christian's build churches in their nations, I'll consider their sensitivities. Clearly Muslim's supporting the mosque are NOT AT ALL concerned about American sensibilities. And I am supposed to get all hand wrung over their happiness? Again, this IS NOT a foreign policy issue. My nation's citizens have no rights threatening violence against Muslims if they don't let a church be built in their nations, and they have NO RIGHT to threaten us over this.

But the most egregious part of all this is the position of American progressives. Again, politics is supposed to end at the water's edge - a Democrat coined that phrase, ya know?

It is becoming more and more clear that in almost every single issue progressives have and will align themselves with any interest that can be used to paint conservatism as evil, and if that means siding with non-Americans in an issue, well, they're all for it. Again, all this goes back to Monica, a stained dress, Bush's election and all that has come since.

Progressives got mad at the Lewinsky deal and have been in "hatred" mode ever since. Almost every position they have staked since then is one against traditional Americanism. And since almost all positions held by conservatism are of a generally traditional nature, progressives have made themselves clear. It's them against America as it was constituted and governed since day One.

Let me be very clear for them. I don't do well with being threatened. I wanna be left alone to live my life in autonomy and as I am legally allowed to do. When ANYONE, foreign or domestic, threatens me and my right to autonomy, I get a tad bit up in one's face. For that I am painted as the bad guy when all I want is to be left alone. And for the sake of political fortunes American progressives will take almost any position so long as it has potential to defame conservatism. This is not about religious freedom as progressives want to pretend.

For the edification of the casual reader, it is progressives who rail on ad infinitum against American religion in most every capacity, yet now, oddly they are all about supporting religion in this instance. Why? Because conservatism has taken a firm position against the building of the Ground Zero mosque. For the record, conservatism is all about religious freedom for all Americans. But why is the mosque so important?

Recall the Greek Orthodox church that was destroyed by the falling WTC towers. Are progressives screaming at the Port Authority, demanding the Greek Orthodox church be rebuilt? No, they are not! But a mosque where one never was before MUST be built, according to progressives? Add in that the 9/11 attacks were motivated and called for in the name of Allah and jihad, and that's not politics? PULEEZE! Don't treat me like I'm stupid.

The Ground Zero mosque is politics all the way. If American progressives had chosen to respect the sanctity and autonomy of our nation over the political expediency of taking a position to defame conservatism, none of this would be happening. But no... it is better serving for their political purposes, so they think, to oppose whatever position comes from the mouth of a conservative.

We are not at war with Islam. But we are at war with a world full of those who use Islam as their motivation to war against us, and remember, it is they who sought this war. That's a fact and it leads to a sticky and very unclear position. Well, unclear for some. For me not so much. My humanity is left at home when I am threatened and even more so when threat turns to action against me when I have done nothing to you and then you seek to harm me or interfere with my right to autonomy and freedom.

I don't like being threatened. Imam Rauf issued the same threat TWICE, so it isn't a matter of semantics or misunderstanding. I don't give a rat's ass what the Muslim world does or does not like. And THAT IS NOT a statement against individual Muslims or their religion as a whole. But I and my nation are being threatened with the anger of the entire Muslim world. Am I to back down and let that threat sway me, for the sake of Muslim sensibilities? Well, are their sensibilities concerned with what myself and other American's feel? That a mosque at Ground Zero is a carry on of the Muslim tradition of erecting a mosque at the sight of all jihad victories against the Infidel? Am I to pretend that is not what this is? Foreigner's do not get to dictate to my nation what we can and cannot do domestically.

I cannot dictate they build a Christian church, right? That would offend them. But offend me is all good huh? This ain't about healing, as Imam Rauf likes to say. If they wanted to heal rifts the mosque would never have been proposed. American's must knuckle and cave to their wishes here in America to suit them? Good luck with that. It'll be a cold day in Hell and what with all this progressive global warming, it ain't happening. Oh, they might build that mosque, but it will only be yet another nail in the progressive coffin.

American's are not as dumb as progressives like to imagine we who disagree with them are. Keep pushing. Keep siding with our enemies - ya know, the enemies who attacked us repeatedly before we responded in kind? The end of progressivism for this generation is on the horizon. That is the only prospect that makes this foul fight worth having.

What a crock. These people attacked our country. They happen to be Arab. Big whoop. Those idiots need to get over it.

That "racist" accusation is an all-purpose brain-fade for guilt-ridden "progressive" mostly white people. how many black guys do you know who wear birkenstocks and drive volvos and sit around Starbucks discussing Basquiat or deconstruction? and just consider who's making the "racist" accusations-- soul brothers like Keith Olbermann...LOL..that guy's such a snow cone.

    THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

With all due respect Linda, that's a typical leftist argument. Why don't you address the point? And IF, IF, IF a Christian sect knocked 'em down in their version of Christian jihad, YES! I WOULD BE AGAINST ANY MEMORIAL TO THEIR VICTORY! It's not Muslim's that are bad, but I did not write the history of jihad and mosque building as memorial to victory, but that is the factual history. All Germans were not Nazi's but they all paid a price. All Soviets were not Commies, but they all paid the same price. It's how it works. Wrong is wrong, and the jihadists are wrong. I will not acquiesce to their monument building. And thanks LIBERAL for the fair comment.

The name they picked for the mosque "Cordoba" has connotations of gloating over a victory. Not cool for near Ground Zero.

Also, even if the mosque has only the holiest members now, the location will be tempting for infiltration by radical terrorists.

  • Linda StCyr 9/11/2010

Snidely, before I go into the faith of muslims and the true believers of Islam let me ask you this... if Christian's knocked down the WTC would you oppose a church of the Christian faith at "ground zero"?

  • Snidely Whiplash 9/11/2010

You're wrong Linda, the crazy Fl. pastor said he will NOT burn any Koran. And the Corboda mosque will be a monument to Islamic jihad. Look at their history and explain to me how it's different this time. Don't rationalize it to me - explain how THIS TIME it's not a memorial to jihad against Infidels. Islam has a 1500 year history of building a mosque as a memorial to jihad over Infidels. Look it up Dear.

  • Linda StCyr 9/11/2010

I'm not progressive or political and I find that there is no reason to oppose the Islamic community center that is going to be 2 blocks from "ground zero". the people opposing it at this point are targeting a 'faith' not the 'terrorist' who caused such dissent. And the Dove World Outreach Center who planned the 9/11 qu'ran burning did not retract it's threat, it made its own threat and is still planning on holding the burning. They are no better than the terrorists. But I'm really just pissed that they would burn a book. I'm might be a tree-hugger but I love my books and I'll be damned if I stand for anyone burning any source of knowledge/reading material. (sorry went off on a tangent)

  • Keith Bonnett 9/10/2010

Reread what I wrote, guess the spell check changed enemies to enemas - Not much of a difference.

  • Keith Bonnett 9/10/2010

GREAT READ!! You know what really pisses me off Jimbo? I watched videos of US flag burnings today in Islamic countries – NOT one Progressive denounced these actions!! The Mosque is now being used as a pawn of victory for our enemies – IF built it will stand as a proud victory to our enemas and if not, it will give another false reason to recruit more terrorists to their ranks, as Gitmo has. Either way, this administration and progressives are willing to use these objects as political weapons against conservatives, without actually thinking thru, the adverse problems they cause for most of America.
