Progresso Light Pot Roast Soup Review

Amy Brantley
Since beginning Weight Watchers, I've been looking for easy meals I could have for lunch that were also low in Points. While shopping, I spotted Progresso Light Soups. I knew I'd seen several commercials that mentioned that Progresso Light Soups were low in Points and decided to give them a look. Sure enough, the amount of Points were listed on the package and they were quite low. I decided to give the Light Pot Roast a try. The picture showed a beef broth with vegetables and chunks of beef. It looked so good and at a Points level of 2 per serving, what did I have to lose?

The first thing I noticed when pouring the soup into the pot was that it didn't contain very much beef. The broth also looked quite thin and not as rich as the description promised. However, once I had a drink of the heated broth, I was quite surprised. It was extremely hearty and while not as rich as a full fat soup, it was still very delicious.

There were vegetables and potatoes throughout the soup and surprisingly there was enough beef to keep me satisfied. The meat was extremely lean and had the perfect texture. What I loved most about this soup though was that it was perfectly seasoned. This is a soup I can see myself curling up with on a cold winter's night. I didn't feel deprived at all while eating this soup.

A 1 cup serving of Progresso Light Pot Roast Soup has 80 calories, 1 gram of fat, 0 grams of saturated fat, 0 grams of trans-fat, 10mg of cholesterol, 660mg of sodium, 410mg of potassium, 12 grams of carbohydrates, 2 grams of fiber, 4 grams of sugar, 7 grams of protein, 15% of your daily Vitamin A, 2% of your daily calcium and 6% of your daily iron and 2 Points.

I give this soup 5 out 5 stars. I could not be happier with this soup. It's rich, hearty and extremely satisfying. I heat up the entire can for a meal and have it with a ½ cup of oyster crackers for a lunch that has only 7 Points. Whether you're watching your calories, fat, Points or just want to eat healthier, you should really give this soup a try.

It seem like it would taste good cooked on a roast.
