The first collection we got to see coming down the runway belong to Jillian. I have been a fan of Jillian's since early in the show and felt that she could easily win Project Runway based on her sense of style and knack for producing beautifully feminine garments that I would actually wear myself. The only problems that Jillian has faced on Project Runway are that she can sometimes become too stressed and seems to finish her pieces at the last minute. Even Rami made mention of this during the season finale when Jillian became stressed over her model choice. And anyone who has been watching Project Runway knows that even Jillian herself has made comment of her last minute work. In fact her last minute approach has even worried others during group challenges.
When it came time for Jillian to show her collection on the runway I had high hopes for her. I can honestly say that I was not the least bit disappointed in the collection she produced for the season finale of Project Runway. Her black and white striped sweater with the puffed sleeves was beautifully made and one of my favorite pieces from her collection. Jillian stated that her source of inspiration was from the MET, a continuation of the final regular season episode of Project runway, and it was easily translated in many of her pieces. However, Jillian did come across some trouble when some of her pieces didn't seem to fit in with the rest of her collection. Her strongest piece had to definitely be the jacket that her model wore on the runway. I have to say though that I thought it looked better on the mannequin than on the model. Still you could tell that a lot of work went into the jacket and it was meticulously made. I felt that Jillian had a chance of winning Project Runway from viewing her collection.
Rami was next on stage to show his collection to the judges and audience at Bryant Park. I felt that Rami's collection, from what we saw on part 1 of the season finale, was going to "wow" the judges. Rami fine tuned his collection since meeting with Tim Gunn and showed viewers of Project Runway that he deserves to be in the third spot of the final competition. My favorite piece of Rami's collection had to be the brown dress with the weaving on the front. Rami proved to the Project Runway judges and audience that he is a very talented evening wear designer. I do not think that any of the other contestants on the show could produce more beautiful dresses than Rami. However Judge Michael Kors took the words right out of my mouth when he brought up Rami's struggle with color choice. Had some of Rami's dresses and outfits been in another color I would very well be likely to wear one of them. However I did like the red color for the blouse and pants. It looked like Rami was capable of winning the competition as well after viewing his collection on the runway.
Last, but certainly not least, was Christian's collection. Christian Siriano has definitely been one of the most interesting and well liked contestants on Project Runway this season. As said by the judges Christian has a flare for drama and it shows up in his garments. Christian certainly didn't hold back when he produced his collection for the season finale of Project Runway. My favorite piece had to of been the outfit with the maroon jacket, cream blouse, and gray slacks. His ruffled neck piece still didn't win me over and was my least favorite of all the garments. Still Christians produce a collection that was "fierce" and made it easy to see why the judges declared Christian Siriano as the winner of Project Runway Season 4.
I still wish Jillian would have won but I feel that Christian certainly deserved to win. Jillian, though her work is always flawless and beautiful, produced a line of garments that did not all go in the same direction and ultimately led to her loss. Rami meanwhile chose the wrong colors for his collection and I feel that it lacked a bit of drama needed to give him a win. Christian as always produced garments that were edgy and ultimately gave him the "edge" over his competitors to win. Project Runway Season 4 has reached the end and all I can think about is Project Runway Season 5 and which new characters we will meet on the show next year.
