Last night Project Runway judges finally got it right and sent the un-designer Mitchell home. Me, in my cold heart would have sent him packing the first episode, but they didn't really ask me to be a judge - yet. It was obvious after the first two episodes when he landed consistently in the bottom two that he was way out of his league being on Project Runway. But last night he just gave up altogether on Project Runway.
Project Runway started as a day at the beach, with Tim in sandals- which I thought was absolutely darling. The designers were teamed for this competition and poor Ra`mon drew the short straw from the Gods and got paired with Mitchell. Note that when Mitchell, the team 'captain', selected Ra`mon to be on his team it was because Ra`mon was strong in his designs and could carry Mitchell.
Well Ra`mon did more than carry Mitchell through Project Runway last night, he single-handedly incubated the concepts and executed like the professional that he really is.
It started with the Project Runway designers interviewing some beach surfers on what they would wear. Then they did their drawing of concept ideas being done by Ra`mon and then the selection of fabric again carried off by Ra`mon. This time designers only had $50 to select their fabric and then get to work.
And Ra`mon and the other Project Runway designers did get to work. Fabric was cut, dyed, sewn, braided, and pleated. Meanwhile what was Mitchell doing all this time? Other than complaining and whining and roaming around the work room, I have no idea what Mitchell was doing. He pretty much could have been napping through the whole Project Runway challenge and it would not have made a difference on the runway.
Luckily for Ra`mon, Tim realized what was going on and gave encouragement to Ra`mon to hang in there. Even when there were mere moments left to have something on the runway and Ra`mon was still dying fabric, Tim was there to give support. And Ra`mon pulled it off, the neoprene avant-garde dress he sent down the runway was loved by the judges.
At least un-designer Mitchell stood up to the judges and told the truth when he said that Ra`mon had really done almost all the work for the two looks. He also walked away with minimal drama which was refreshing.
So Mitchell is gone from Project Runway and we are all better for it. Ra`mon won the night and has immunity for next Weeks Project Runway challenge. It is very well deserved immunity. Take a little rest Ra`mon, you earned it.
