I have to say I've been pretty good, week to week, guessing which Project Runway would-be fashion mogul is about to be booted. For example, when the designers were assigned to make outfits for other designer's moms and sisters, well, it wasn't hard to know poor Robert's mu-mu with red shawl, or whatever that was, was going to get him cut. I could have made that! And I can't even sew! It also wasn't difficult to guess that Angela, after one hit and several misses in season 3, was going to get the auf weiderschein (or however you spell it...) when she just didn't pull it together for the Paris "jetsetter" episode, even though Kayne's Elvis ensemble was questionable.
Kayne, in fact, though, needs to watch himself. Since Project Runway left the pageant dress episode, he's had a few weird moments, like when he had to totally re-do his recyclable dress and when he over peached Michael's mom. And the competition is only getting tougher as the dead weight has been cleared away and now only good designers remain. I think he's got his work cut out for him, no pun intended, after some missteps.
Vincent has come from behind to prove himself. He won the mom's challenge after tanking in the recyclable episode. His clean and dark jetsetter look last week got a split decision from the judges, but, overall, he seems to be getting stronger as the weeks go by. I think he has a great deal of self-confidence, but he also has had several weak weeks that mean he needs to really push himself. Not sure he'll last much longer.
I also think that, while stylish, Laura (who recently announced she was pregnant with her sixth kid…) needs to kick it up a notch. I don't think she's won a challenge yet, and while her work is good, she seems more to "get through" then really wow the Project Runway judges to the point she wins a challenge? Will she be able to take her basic style and get increasingly creative with it as the weeks wind down?
I wonder about Uli lately. To me, she seems the most together and professional of all the Season Three Project Runway contestants - and calm. You never see her getting into any of pettiness and weird banter some of the others -including even Laura and Vincent - sometimes fall into. She's the kind of person you'd actually want working for your company and her work has been consistently approved by the judges. However, her jet-setter outfit was so classic "her" - like something she wears all the time, you hoped it wasn't a sign she's running out of creative steam or maybe isn't as diverse as we hoped. She received just her first critical thumbs down, but you wonder if just not getting bad reviews is enough. I would have put her in the top three, but now, I think there's a top two, and I hope she can real blow us away and make it a top three again.
As for the top two, there's a divergent pair. There's two-challenge winner Michael, who, with Uli, is maybe the most likable and even-tempered on Season 3. And then there's Jeffrey who couldn't seem to leave Angela alone and who never hesitates to crank out comments on other people's outfits - including Michael's. These two, I think, are going to face off at the end of things.
Michael's style is sort of hip-hop, and also chic, and episode to episode, he does something different. I didn't dig the collar on his jetsetter white outfit, but I could totally see people wearing it outside at a beach party in the Hamptons. After a quiet first few weeks, he's been impressive, give or take his mom challenge outfit.
Jeffrey's outfits also show a lot of range. His rock and roller jetsetter ensemble looked like something one of those alt rocker guys would wear just before getting into a fight with a stewardess or something. His recycling dress was standout, maybe better than winner Michael's. His mom dress was hideous, but overall, he's done some very impressive work - according the judges, even as he takes shots, flies off the handle, brags, and otherwise annoys. He hasn't got that Santino weird arrogance to him, he's more like the temperamental artist. I predict he'll make it to the top three.

Post a CommentHow can you show such questionable commercials on your channel at 4pm, when children of all ages can access tv? The program you were airing (real housewives,....as if) was silly indeed. However, the commercial before it ,advertising "make me a super model" , with young men and women engaged in more than questionable behavior was totally irresponsible and crude. I know that children and young people of all ages are watching this trash, the shame of it all is too egregious. May you and all at your station reap the just rewards for that you do for society in general, and our young people in particular.
go uli your the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love Tim Gunn when he checks in on the designers and gives his advice,the best one is,MAKE IT WORK!!!!!
project runway is awsome
i just love the show.me and my friends we all just love it.lol lol
Uli has only one dress that she makes for every challenge. How did she even make it to the final 4? I'll tell you how she made, FAVORITISM plain and simple!!
Is there going to be a 4th season of project runway? If so, when?
Jeffrey's good except for that time when he dressed Angela's mom. I loved Michael's dress. I don't find this season interesting though. I liked the previous ones better.
Altho, I am a fan of the show I find the choices of some of the designers follow suit in each season.......must here always be the sarcastic smart ass.
I think Jeffrey is bad news and good news...He is refreshing and yet he does not have a trusting face... He just looks guilty of farming out his work...My hope is that Laura wins....She has all those kids and one on the way....Jeffrey on the other hand will make it no matter what.....They all should win....;
