Project Runway Season 4 Finale: Part 1

Will Chris March or Rami Kashou Make it to Bryant Park?

Project Runway, Season 4, has almost reached the end. This is the moment that the Project Runway fashion designers have been waiting for. The three finalists will be showing their collections in front of the judges as well as an audience in hopes of coming out as the winner of Project Runway Season 4. This season has definitely been an interesting season thanks to the cast of fashion designers who have not only created works of wearable art but, have also entertained us. But alas, all things must come to an end and we now find ourselves holding our breaths as we wait to see who will become the winning designer.

Christian Siriano, voted fan favorite on Project Runway, welcomed Tim Gunn into his design room to show off his collection for Bryant Park. I was anticipating something "fierce" as Christian has a knack for creating an edgy look for his garments. I'm not quite sure that his collection was able to meet my expectations. Christian's collection for Bryant Park, from what we were able to see, appeared to be more like something Chris March may have created for a Broadway show. The ruffly "neck stuffer" that would go up to the model's nose appeared a bit over the top along with the feathered pants. I hope that for Christian's sake he will listen to some of Tim's advice before he makes the final decision on his collection for the season finale of Project Runway.

Jillian Lewis is the last woman standing on Project Runway. I have been a big fan of Jillian since the beginning of season 4. I feel that Jillian Lewis has what it takes to win this competition. Jillian's collection, which will be shown at Bryant Park, appeared to be well made as always. The jacket piece which was featured on the show definitely shows off Jillian's style and personality. Jillian has continued to design her garments based on the visit to the museum in the last episode from the "regular" competition. Tim Gunn told Jillian that her collection appeared like a "cloudy day". I have to agree with Tim somewhat as the color palette is comprised of mostly darker colors such as black and grey. I feel that if Jillian listens to Tim's advice she may very well be the one to beat. I don't think that Jillian needs to do much with her collection with the exception of adding a splash of color here or there to really make her garments "pop" and impress the Project Runway judges at Bryant Park.

Tim Gunn then paid a visit to Rami Kashou in L.A. I had high hopes for Rami as I marveled at his first piece in the collection. I was expecting to see a lot of beautifully draped garments but, I was pleasantly surprised and caught a bit off guard when it came time to preview his collection for Project Runway. The cape and red blouse underneath both appeared to be beautifully made and designed and not at all what I would of expected to come from Rami. The other piece which caught my eye, and Tim Gunn's as well, was the big yellow coat. Tim seemed to be a bit worried about the other pieces in the collection, including the yellow coat itself, saying that he didn't see the same softness as in the first piece. I on the other hand absolutely loved the huge yellow coat. I feel that it would definitely stand out if shown at Bryant Park for the Project Runway finale. I do agree with Tim however that Rami does need to pull his collection together and make it more cohesive with his first piece.

Last, but certainly not least, we get to meet up with Chris March. Chris has definitely been one of the most interesting characters on Project Runway this season. Chris is a strong designer when it comes to costume making and has also shown an ability to create beautiful garments. Chris, who isn't one to shy away from daring designs, showed Tim his collection which included garments trimmed with human hair. I have to agree with Tim when he made reference to his gag reflex. If Chris March would only open his eyes and see that you can take it "too far" when designing. After seeing Chris March's collection I felt nervous for him.

After the four designers had a chance to reminisce Rami and Chris were told that they would be showing off three of their strongest looks to the Project Runway judges. Only one of them would make it to Bryant Park. After watching both collections make their way down the runway I felt that the Project Runway judges would have a tough decision to make.

Chris received compliments from the Project Runway judges for his creativity and hard work in completing his collection. The judges, like Tim, weren't too keen on the human hair trim however. As far as Rami, he surprised the judges with his beautiful garments as well. Rami did receive some constructive criticism as well. After seeing the judges' reactions I feel that neither Rami nor Chris will have a chance to win Project Runway.

The judges appeared to be impressed by Chris March's collection and I thought for sure he would be declared the third finalist. So you can imagine my surprise when Rami was declared the winner of the side competition. I feel that both Project Runway designers should be proud to have made it this far however. Now we must sit and wait with anticipation for Part 2 of the Project Runway Season 4 finale. Who will win, who knows? It certainly appears as if it will be a tight competition between Jillian and Christian, though Rami has a chance of winning as well. Be sure to tune in next Wednesday night and root for your favorite Project Runway designer as they show off their collections at Bryant Park.
