Project Runway Teams Up with Hershey's Chocolate

And Elisa Finally Gets the Boot

Carmen Isom
After a one-week hiatus, Project Runway was back on the air Wednesday, January 2nd on the network Bravo. This week's challenge was to use any products from a Hershey's candy store to make an outfit for a model. They could use actual candy, paper from the products or any other materials in the store. There were some breakaway outfits and others you just wanted to break away from.

This was the 2nd show back for Chris, who had gotten booted off the show 2 weeks earlier only to get brought back because one of the contestants who had AIDS decided to leave after he got an infection in his mouth. And to everyone's surprise, Chris', the costume maker, made a fabulous dress and ended up in the judges' top 3 of choices for the best dress.

Here's a re-cap :

The morning after the harrowing elimination from the night before, the designers get up to find that they have to go on a field trip the next day to start their challenge - a day off work! On the following morning, Tim Gunn happily wakes the men and the women up for the field trip. The designers ended up in Times Square standing right in front of the Hershey's Time Square store. They are told that they have to make outfits from anything in the store.

And to everyone's surprise, there were two even bigger challenges. There was no budget for the first time on Project Runway. They catch was they only had five minutes to grab as much stuff candy as they wanted and any other supplies in the store. Some people grabbed pillows (Chris), other grabbed Twizzlers and others went straight for the big candy bars and Reeses Peanut Butter cups. The second challenge was that they only had one day to complete the outfit. They only had until midnight that night to finish the outfit. And they worked like mad.

Sweet P had to eventually remake her entire outfit because it was ugly. What's her name ended up making an outfit that was 75% Twizzlers. And Alisa did her usual out-of-this-world-ugly-trying-to-be-earthy-and-unique-but-missing-it outfit.

The outfits:

Ricky
He used Hershey's wrappers completely and it looked very futuristic with a sleek silver top and

Sweet P
At first she took teddy bears and some white material to make her dress. When she realized this was ugly, she made another dress that was nearly as ugly but at least not so complicated. It was a simple white dress on top and a flowing short skirt on bottom with little color. It was one of those dresses you pass by in the store, if it makes it to the store. A good concept but Sweet P landed in the bottom 3.

Chris
Chris' taste this week seemed very different than his usual taste as his dress was very classy. It was something you could wear out on the town, black and white, a loose boddess and just an any kind of woman dress.

Kit
The rocker made a cute dress as she always does with white and red candy wrappers. It was very sexy with a tight red top and flowing bottom of wrappers.

Victorya
Her layered white paper dress along with the "ice princess" walk she made her model do made for a very poor showing which wasn't expected out of Victorya.

Christian
He took Reeses Peanut Butter cups and layered the over each other into a boddess on top and very fitted dress on bottom. It was young and cool, very Christian.

Jillian
She took twizzlers to a whole different level. A tedious, meticulous design Gillian had to work double hard to make sure the twizzlers flowed on the bottom of her dress and stopped falling off. She ended up doing that and the dress put her in the top three for the judges. The movable twizzler corset like fit on top complemented the swinging twizzlers on bottom nicely. Jillian's model ended up helping her sewing the rest of her twizzlers on her dress because of the time issue.

Rami
Silver material and purse bag handles, a "fun, sort of futuristic" outfit with the color purple sprinkled in a pattern and a great looking plastic red top to the dress. He made a great dress and also ended up in the judges' top 3.

Elisa
She wanted to make a fairy tale dress for her daughter so she took a flowy sack that had Hershey's candy in it and made a brown dress with silver materials separate from the dress for fluffy elbow pads? Guess who got sent home? Why she didn't get an "auf weidersein" the very first episode with possibly the ugliest train on a dress I've ever seen, I'll never know. She called her dress this week "macabre". And it was, in a way, very depressing.

Kevin
The classic artist that he is, Kevin made another classic dress that's a great fit for the body. It was a sleek brown dress with hints of silver wrappers. One of his best.

Luckily even though Sweet P and Alisa were in the bottom 2, Alisa got booted from the show. No offense to her, but style can be strange and defined and that's what seemed to be missing from her designs, refinement.
