Of course, if you have money and choose to go out and buy an expensive gift, that's O.K. too. With college, or moving away from home in the near future [or whatever your needs], many teens don't have buckets of money.
A couple of suggestions for meaningful gifts follow. They may be just the tip of the iceberg and you will utilize these suggestions to make something more suitable to your own personalities.
1. Make a special picture frame for your prom picture.
The frame could simply be purchased. Think about the things the two of you have done together or plans that you have for the future. This could be the theme of the frame. Or the actual prom could be the theme. School or class colors work well and help make your frame unique. Decide if you want a more fancy style or something just totally "us".
Suggestions could be if you'd spent time at the beach, shells would be fun. If you remember a special party, any little party favors could decorate your frame. It may be where or when you were first together - perhaps the county fair.
A small frame is easier to pack up and take along with you. Be sure to sign and write a note on the back.
2. This suggestion includes a small purchase.
If you know your date likes jewelry, purchase a small, inexpensive piece you know they'd love. Wrap it cleverly with ribbon or other material and add [or hide if possible] in flowers you will give your date. It would be fun to have the date inscribed on the charm or ring - or whatever you'd choose.
3. Make a small scrap book or write a small book of poetry.
Again, small is good. Tiny is even better. This special little book that you took time to make could travel with your date wherever they go. You can get help on line with poems or write your own. You could crop special photos to fit on small pages.
Whatever you do, make your special gift very personal and meaningful. Remember a special wrap makes your receiver feel very, very special. Then take your camera and make new memories as you have fun together at the prom.
