Prom Hairstyles: The Cinderella Pull Back

S
The prom is a beautiful occasion, but it can be so very stressful. The special day arrives sooner than you think while you are busy with a dress, shoes, makeup look, and hairstyle. But it will all be worth it!

Right now we are going to focus on a princess-type look called "Cinderella Pull Back". This look has 3 hair strand pull backs that line across the back of your head, curled hair drape down, and will work with all types of bangs (side swept, straight pull back, short, and face framing. This look works best with long or medium hair lengths.

What you are going to need for the "Cinderella Pull Back":

Comb

Brush

Large bobby pins

1.5" curling iron

Shine serum

Strong hold hair spray

Small hair clips

Total time it took to complete this look: 15 minutes

IMPORTANT: Make sure you are working with dry-clean hair.

*Start warming the curling iron before you begin*

First Step:

Brush your hair out well. Make sure to brush underneath as well as on top. Run some shine serum throughout all your hair. Brush the serum thoroughly with a brush.

Second Step:

Pick how you would like your bangs to be (i.e. side swept, face framing, etc.). If you would like your bangs up, continue with this step. Using a comb - separate your bangs from the rest of your hair. Tease the bangs at the roots (do this to the back portion of the bangs and not the closest to your forehead). Spray the backside of the teased bangs with a little hair spray, and pin back with a bobby pin. You should see no signs of the bunched up-teased hair, only a slight volumized lift.

Third Step:

Using the 1.5" curling iron, gather a 1" strand of hair and wrap it around the curling iron. Do not close the curling iron onto the hair, but simply hold onto the end of the hair strand, place the iron 3" from the root, and lightly wrap the strand around. Allow the hair to slightly warm and quickly remove the strand (the longer you hold the hair around the curling iron - the tighter the curls will be and in this style you want loose curls). Place various curls around in your hair.

Fourth Step:

On the right side of your head, pull back a one 1.5" strand of hair from the side of your bangs and pin to the back of your head using a hair clip, pull back another 1.5" strand from above your ear and use a hair clip to pin it mid-back of your head, and pull back a third strand of 1.5" hair from right behind your ear and pin it to the lower back of your head with a hair clip. Do this to the left side also.

Fifth Step:

Working with the 6 strands of pull back you just completed, go through one-by-one and remove the clip holding the strand of hair. Each time you remove a clip, replace it with a large bobby pin to hold the hair in place (you may have to use a couple to hold each strand). Let the remainder of the hair hang down for now. Do this to all the strands. Allow the strands to overlap one another to its opposite (for example: the top right and top left should be once and the longer portion of the strand should be crossed over each other and pinned again (still making them separate).

Sixth Step:

Using the 1.5" curling iron again, go through and curl the hanging-pinned back strands of hair. You want these curls to be tighter so hold them in the curling iron a little longer than you did earlier.

Seventh Step:

Leave the all remaining hair (the un-pinned hair) hang and drape your shoulders. You can add a couple more loose curls for texture if you would like. Give all your hair a quick spray of strong hold hair spray.
