Prom Hairstyles: Wearing Your Hair Down for Prom

Prom is a exciting time, and it takes a lot of preparation to get ready for it. You will have to pick out your perfect dress then make sure you have the perfect hairstyle to go with it. Wearing your hair down for prom is a very popular trend this year, these are a few examples. There are many popular hairstyles for prom this year these are just a few ideas to get you started.

Half up Hair: Sometimes wearing your hair all down can sometimes be unpractical. Wearing your hair half up and half down is sometimes a more practical option. This is a great way to make sure your hair is going to stay in place and out of your way all night long. Half up hair can look very glamorous for prom. Before you start your hair you will want to decide if you want to wear your hair curly or straight. Both curls and sleek hairstyles look wonderful when worn half up. Once you have your hair curled or straightened, you will want to pull part of it up. Use a comb with a pointed end to make a straight part going upward from your ears. You will want to experiment to see what amount of hair looks the best for you. Then use a glittery or jeweled barrette to hold the part of hair that you pulled up. It usually looks best if you leave your hair looser, and pull a few strands down around your face.

Flowers in your hair
: This look can be beautiful as long as you are careful. Don't get carried away, and don't just put large bunches of baby's breath in your hair or you will look like you are in 8th grade. Pick your favorite flower, Daisy's or Lily's are both great options. You can wear your hair half up and tuck a small flower in the barrette holding your hair up. If you want to have a larger flower effect you can tuck a pretty flower behind your ear holding back part of your hair, similar to Jasmine from American Idol.

Long loose cascading ringlets
: Ringlets can look very Shirley Temple, if they are too tight. If you have loose ringlets they look very sexy and glamorous. You will want to start by blow drying your hair with a round brush. After your hair is dry, use a large barrel curling iron to curl your hair into ringlets. You will want to alternate the direction of each curl, so it looks more natural. Once you have curled each section of your hair, lightly spray hairspray all over. Let the hair spray dry then gently separate the ringlets with your fingers. You can pull on each ringlet a little and loosen it. Continue doing this until you get your desired look. Once your hair looks how you like it, lightly spray it all very with hairspray.

Side Parted: This is a great, easy way to make your hair look more glamorous for prom. A side parted hairstyle is a great option for prom or any special occasion. When you part your hair differently then you usually do it instantly gives you a different look. You can side part your hair and wear it down and curly or wear it down and straight. You can also side part your hair and wear it in a loose ponytail, which is another beautiful hairstyle option for prom. Side parting your hair is easy. Start by drying your hair as usual, then use a pick or a pointed comb to evenly part your hair slightly to one side. You can experiment to see how deep or a part and what side the part looks best on you.

No matter what way you decide to wear your hair for prom be sure to practice before the day of. If you are doing your hair yourself, do several trial runs to make sure you can get it just right. If you are going to a stylist to do your hair, ask if you can go in before prom day to have her show you what she plans to do. This is a great idea if you are working with someone else, because to different people loose curls or half up can mean very different things. You don't want to find out on the day of prom, that you hate the way your stylist did your hair.
