Promise Keeper is the third installment in Mary Fremont Schoenecker's Maine Shore Chronicles series and, like books one and two, features Tante Margaret, Chronicles' thoroughly lovable clairvoyant. Schoenecker's knack for delivering vividly descriptive prose, coupled with international intrigue, romance, and a suspense-filled storyline, make Promise Keeper a hard one to put down!
Protagonist, Paul Fontaine has been staying with his father, Jacques, in Maine since the shooting at his art gallery, Cornerstone. However, his recovery is slow and painful, and his spirits are at an all-time low with so much weighing on his mind. Jacques is struggling with his own health issues and so Tante Margaret, an old family friend, has graciously agreed to come and stay with them for a bit. While there, Paul confides in Tante Margaret on everything from his missing love, Suzanne Petrone, to the whereabouts of the stolen painting she loaned his art gallery. A phone call sends Paul to Florida to check on a lead to the painting and Suzanne. With the help of Tante Margaret's clairvoyant gift, she continues to give Paul valuable clues to help him recover the missing painting and Suzanne. But will Paul find them before he too goes missing?
Schoenecker's inspiration for both the setting and her colorful clairvoyant, Tante Margaret, comes from researching her maternal grandmother's French roots. Schoenecker's grandmother lived near the beautiful seaside village of Biddeford Pool, in Biddeford, Maine as a young girl, and this became the opening setting for Keeper. While visiting Biddeford, Schoenecker came upon a historical lithograph on the wall at Biddeford's Chamber of Commerce. The picture was of a young woman tending a spinning frame in the cotton mill, circa 1845. The drawing became the inspiration for creating the character of Tante Margaret. This kind of romantic notion is present throughout Keeper. Schoenecker's multi-dimensional characters and effortless storytelling capabilities are what make Promise Keeper a great cozy mystery!
Promise Keeper is published by Five Star/Gale/Cengage and scheduled for release on October 21, 2011. It follows closely on the heels of Finding Fiona and Moonglade, books one and two of the Maine Shore Chronicles mystery series. You can purchase Promise Keeper online at Amazon.com, Barnes&Noble.com, Five Star/Gale/Cengage, Schoenecker's websites, and at your favorite bookstore.
