The love you gave, was only a token
A small price to pay, a big dividend
I bet you thought it would never end
But as days turned to years
And hope turned to fears
I had to face the pain
Which brought a quiet refrain
From the Love so bold
That turned, oh so cold
Now it's all gone
This love that was all wrong
That lasted way too long
Like verses, in a bad country song
So now that it's over, I marvel at me
And the marvelous changes in me, I see
My years were not wasted, with you after all
Lessons learned, each time, I stood up from a fall
Life goes on, as changes occur
As we all keep searching for happily ever after
And sometimes Promises made, promises spoken
Can bring about healing, for a Heart that is Broken.
