TheEntrepreneurDiva
Have you ever wondered why they stay that word of mouth is the best marketing tool? The reason for that is when you share something by word of mouth, it is more personal. Not only are people getting the information that you are sharing, they are also gaining vibes from your personality. Those vibes are what is going to draw your prospects in. Have you ever been around someone that brightens your day as soon as he or she steps into the room? Well that is the same type of vibe you are trying to create for your prospects.

THINGS TO CONSIDER WHEN USING WORD OF MOUTH

There are many people out there that don't really know how to market their business by word of mouth, so I will make it simple for you. Here are some important tips for using word of mouth:

Develop structure or a strategy before spreading the word.
You have to have a structure or a strategy before doing anything. Everyone that you tell about your business is going to expect you to be on your p's and q's. You have to be able to answer any questions that they may have or your may think they will have. If a person asks you a question about your business and you can't answer it, then how do you think that will make you look? So you have to kind of prepare yourself by guessing or coming up with questions that you think will be asked and come up with the answers.

Don't bombard your prospect with information.
It is okay to share your information with people, but you don't want to bombard them with information. That will not only scare the person away and it could also create bad reputation for you or your business. So make sure that you keep all conversations interactive, allowing people to comment on the information you are sharing and giving you their opinions. It is a two way street, if you listen to what they have to say they will listen to what you have to say.

Don't just make contacts, make relationships.
Your goal should be to make long lasting professional relationships rather than just making a few dead end contacts. Even if you are not able to turn everyone you speak with into a customer, you will still be able to make reference partners and they can join in on spreading the word.

Keep information on hand to back up what you tell your prospects.
Even though you are using word of mouth techniques, it is a good idea to keep business cards, brochures, fliers, etc. on hand to back up what you are telling your prospects. You have to understand that some people understand better when they have something that they can look at while you are speaking. And for that purpose alone, you need to make sure that you can cater to these types of prospects.

Make sure that your work is 100% Authentic.
Authenticity is extremely important when you are marketing your business. You have to be able to back up everything that you tell a person, because they will test you to see if you or your business is authentic and you have to be ready for it.

Don't Stray from Your Original Mission
Make sure that your original mission remains the same. Your mission is the foundation of your business and if it is not stable then your business will not be stable. And this will definitely cause confusion for your prospects. Make sure that when you are explaining your company's mission, you explain it the same way to each prospect so that your mission alone will create a good reputation.

Don't shy away from customer complaints.
One thing that you must always remember is even the best businesses out there get complaints every now and then. But the key is learning how to handle them, and turning them from a negative into a positive. The truth of the matter is, everyone is not going to like or agree with your ideas. But you have to be able to turn their negativity into a positive outcome.

Once you have an understanding of the information above, you can start trying your word of mouth techniques out on friends, family members, employees, or random people that you meet on a day to day basis. And you will be surprised at how fast your word of mouth will catch on.
