Prop 8 News: Prop 8 Overturned Wednesday, Same-Sex Marriage Back on the Books? (August 4)

According to Adam Bink, editor of a popular Prop 8 trial tracking website, California's same sex marriage law (Proposition 8) has been overturned! Proposition 8 (Prop 8) was declared unconstitutional by U.S. District Court judge today, August 4, and opponents of the Prop 8 legislation see this ruling as a major victory.

Prop 8 News: Controversial Law Ruled Unconstitutional, Same-Sex Marriage Gets A New Day!

Chief Judge Vaughn Walker made this updated ruling on what is being hoped will be the final Proposition 8 decision when the matter was heard in a California federal court Wednesday (Aug. 4).

Today's Proposition 8 (Prop 8) decision included the following statement:

"Because Proposition 8 is unconstitutional under both the Due Process and Equal Protection Clauses, the court orders entry of judgment permanently enjoining its enforcement; prohibiting the official defendants from applying or enforcing Proposition 8 and directing the official defendants that all persons under their control or supervision shall not apply or enforce Proposition 8."

Chief Judge Vaughn Walker found that Prop 8 was in conflict with a person's constitutional rights. In America, citizens expect to have a certain liberty; a freedom to live our lives how we choose. Why should the government be allowed to tell a person who they can marry? Proposition 8 (Prop 8) is legislated hate and superiority, period.

Though today's Prop 8 decision (August 4) will likely be appealed, this is a huge victory for those in support of not just gay rights, but equal human rights and protection of freedom from government infringement in our personal lives.

Prop 8 News: What If Prop 8 Is Reinstated Through Appeal?

Consider Proposition 8 remaining in California law. What next? What if the government decides one day to legislate the age gap that can exist between a couple? Or that all males with brown hair and blue eyes between ages 25-35 must be mechanics for a living. What if they were to tell us where we could live, eat or shop? Why should the government, or voters for that matter, have ANY say in how one human loves another; shares their life with another? It's ridiculous.

Yea! As for "concerned citzens" comment - don't vote for discrimination, and you won't have to worry about it being overturned!
