Proper Food Can Reduce Alcohol Cravings

When one has alcohol cravings, two factors are at play. The first one is the toxicity of the alcohol to the body. In this case, toxicity simply means that there is too much of it being processed through the system. This can mean a slight over-dosage or it can mean nearing alcohol poisoning. Whichever the case, it means that the amount of alcohol being processed is more than the body can handle at one time. The second factor at play is the slight or more major allergic reaction that is occurring in the body due to the alcohol toxicity. Whether it is cigarettes, alcohol, drugs or content of food, people often crave what they are slightly allergic to.

Body's dependency on stimulants. While some people crave manmade endorphins, most people enjoy the production of their own endorphins. When a small allergic reaction is taking place, particularly to a stimulant such as alcohol, the endorphins created to counteract the negative feeling from the allergy are noticeable. The endorphins feel so good that it is impossible not to notice their affect on your body. Most people believe that the addiction from alcohol is caused by the dizzying, out-of-control feeling that one gets from drinking. However, a major portion of the addiction stems from endorphin release caused by tiny allergic reactions. Unfortunately, as time goes by, the allergy, and thus the endorphin production, decreases and a greater amount of alcohol is needed to even get a reaction.

Sunshine and healthy foods. One of the best ways to get out of a dependency is to "clean house" in the body. This means to temporarily rid the system of all allergic reactions, all naturally or artificially created endorphins, literally cleaning the home in which you live, exercising regularly and drinking plenty of cleansing water. It may also involve ridding yourself of toxic or unproductive relationships in your life, at least for the time being. Doing all of this will wipe your slate clean. It is difficult to have and retain perspective when your life is a mess.

Regular exposure to sunshine and healthy food, including plenty of good natural meat, will start to rebuild previously compromised systems. This will include emotional development and tolerance to self-imposed allergic reactions. It is important to realize that the need for having AN addiction will still be there, and you might consider filling this need with positive addictions.

Healthy addictions. Now that you have done a small purge in your life, you must remember to rebuild. The rest of the steps in your life and the positive evaluations will come mostly from rebuilding new and not as much from tearing down the old. You may still drink or smoke or caffeinate yourself. The important thing to remember is that you will not have a better place to be in unless you build an alternative life. It is almost impossible to live in the same old life, with the same habits, surroundings and people, and actually maintain positive addictions. Clean up your body by working out or going running on a regular basis. Clean out your house by purging it of all old or unnecessary junk and even washing the walls if needed. Satisfy your innate human need to succeed by going to your library and taking out educational texts. Clean your life of unhealthy influences by purging yourself of your unhealthy or unsuccessful friends. And remember to eat your raw fruits and vegetables and grass-fed meat and drink your water and juice, even if you are still engaging in your other addictions. This internal rebuilding of your system will begin to reduce your cravings noticeably and build new, healthier cravings.

Don't stop the previous behavior! "I just don't want to stop!" is one of the oft-spoken complaints of people who would like to reduce their cravings for unhealthy behavior. That is fine! Eating and drinking healthy foods and juices does not need to replace your other ingestions. This article is about making it easier to quit, not about quitting cold turkey and sucking it up. Your body will crave healthy foods and liquids and may change the cravings every day. Keep this in mind while shopping for those foods. Do not get too much of one thing, in case tomorrow it is something else. Keep satisfying all of your cravings, even the unhealthy ones, but remember that, in time, your body will stop needing the unhealthy and will only ask for the healthy. This will affect who you are friends with, how much time you spend with certain members of your family and will even affect your work ethic. Keep the future changes in mind while you are gradually switching lifestyles.

Many people want to be ambitious and bite off more than they can chew. You probably know this if you have tried quitting in the past. This lesson is less about self control and purging the old habits or cravings and more about rebuilding parts of your body which are essentially starving. Once these parts are fully developed, they will naturally begin rejecting the old bad habits. There will be very little self control involved toward the end, and isn't that what we are all looking for?
