Proper PH Levels Are Vital to Good Health

Beth Hansel
You are perfect...from the beginning. Balanced PH levels in the body. It's nature's way! When we make poor choices regarding lifestyle, what we consume and how much stress we are under the results will be no surprise. Its simple cause and effect. When we have a terrible diet coupled with the stress of the typical American lifestyle our bodies become acidic and out of balance. Having an acidic body is a sure sign of trouble to come.

What happens in the acidic body is that your blood is robbed of life-giving oxygen. This is when disease can manifest because your cells aren't receiving the oxygen they need to function properly.

You can literally reverse and avoid problems by simply keeping your body's PH level within normal range. I would recommend going to the local health food market or online and purchase some PH testing strips. There are two tests: saliva and urine. The saliva test will tell you what is going on immediately in your body but the urine test gives you a more overall result of your true PH level. Generally, your body should be at about 7 or a little above to be slightly alkaline. The scale runs from low/acid (5) to high/alkaline (8).

If you are just starting out and have poor consumption habits, you'll probably find that you are more on the acid side. Check your PH in the morning before you eat or drink anything for the truest results. Once you begin the habit of monitoring your levels, you can begin making the changes necessary to stay balanced. Think of a swimming pool. If the PH level in the pool isn't balanced, the pools chemistry is off and algae begin to grow along with other things if it isn't corrected quickly. Our bodies are the same.

Most likely, if you are like many people, you'll find staying balanced to be a bit of challenge. Although bodies vary slightly in how we process consumables, most habits will have similar results. For instance, a diet rich in raw vegetables and fruits will likely result in the proper balance level of around 7. A diet consisting largely of sugar, fat, meat, alcohol and drugs will be acid. When your body is acid it's prone to develop dis-ease.

Basically, vegetables are alkalizing to the body along with most fruits. If you can manage to eat a diet that consists of 80% raw vegetables and fruits (not cooked), then you will most likely be able to remain in balance easily. Unless of course you consume a lot of alcohol and drugs, which are definitely acid causing. Stay away from processed food. Processed sugar is probably the worst thing for your body. It is hidden in many forms in processed food.

Unfortunately, many children are becoming victim of the poor eating habits of the average American. They are labeled as "ADD" or bad because they can't control themselves or focus on school work. I can tell you from my personal experience with my son's friends and my observations. These kids are eating TONS of sugar in many different forms. These forms include soda, junk foods like chips, cookies and candy. I've heard recently that McDonalds puts sugar in some form on their french fries. If you have ever thought that you are addicted to McDonalds French fries you were probably right! Processed sugar is addictive. Any child who is suffering from behavioral problems should be tested on an 80% raw diet with the other 20% being healthy organic food. The results will be amazing! Personally, we don't drink sodas or keep chips, cookies or candies in the house. We do keep water, veggies, fruits and nuts for snacking. Sometimes we'll have a treat but we try to keep healthy food around so that if you get hungry you grab an apple or a handful of nuts. Many people keep a stock supply of sodas, chips, candies, cookies, and other packaged foods and wonder why they are overweight and sick.

Poor food choices are basically just bad habits that need to be broken and a lack of education. Take some time to investigate online about PH and the body. It's real hard to make bad choices when you know the truth. It doesn't mean you can't ever have your favorite foods! Just occasionally...not regularly.

Another fabulous benefit of having a PH balanced body is the natural weight loss. When you are in balance your body is working properly and you will lose weight! Of course, you'll feel great too.

There is one thing for sure. A diet consisting of 80% raw organic fruits and vegetables and 20% healthy organic foods will result in optimum health. Stay away from processed foods!
