Properly Handle Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows or Else

Libraries Sign Contracts to Keep Book 7 Protected

Amy Brantley
Some Harry Potter fans love spoilers and some don't. This means that many fans would jump on the chance to read Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows before its July 21st release, while other fans would want to wait. Regardless of whether or not fans would read Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows before its release, libraries across the country are being forced to make sure no one reads this book before its scheduled release.

Libraries across the country have had to sign a contract before they can receive any copies of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. This contract ensures that no one reads the book before July 21st. Many people would think that library officials would still read the copy before its scheduled release, but the contract may help to prevent that. In fact, the contract limits that number of library workers who can come in contact with the book. If libraries fail to follow this contract, it could prevent them from receiving big releases in the future. The contract makes it very clear that Scholastic and J.K. Rowling want these protected. Part of the contact states:

"We acknowledge and agree that any such violation will cause irreparable harm to Scholastic and the author, J.K. Rowling, and that monetary damages will be inadequate to compensate for violations,"

Many people will claim that this contract is only in place to ensure that J.K. Rowling makes another billion, but in reality this contract is also in place to ensure that fans find out for themselves how Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows ends. In Harry Potter terms, this helps fans to avoid spoilers. No one likes to have the ending of a great film revealed before the movie is over and many fans do not want to know how the Harry Potter series ends without reading it themselves. In other words, it does ensure that J.K. Rowling and Scholastic protect their future earnings, but it also keeps fans safe from unwanted spoilers.

Whether or not people agree with these extreme measures it is true that contracts like this keep people on the edge of their seats. When July 21st finally arrives, fans across the country will find out together how their favorite series ends. If you're a Harry Potter fan, you will probably agree that it's better to discover the ending on your own, rather than opening your favorite browser and finding out that Harry Potter has died.

But I have already had the last book for some time! Wouldn't have wanted to wait. How can the libraries wait when the book is for sale?

Great Article, I'm in Hawaii and was anticipating the wait, unfortunately, I'm miles away from any place selling the book and have no ride @ this time, but in the morning, I know this wait will be all worth it. I was actually trying to cheat and see who has at least the first chapter online because I really want to just sit down and read. But, I guess I can wait.

this book rox. can't wait for it 2 come out. i don't think harry will die. what kind of an ending 2 a great series would that be? But i do think that lupin and pettigrew will die cuz that would mean that all 4 "marauders," Padfoot, Prongs... would all have been together again...as it was meant 2 b.
