Properly Taking Care of Roses: Insider Secrets

Everything Your Neighbors Hoped You Wouldn't Find Out

Chris Griswold
There is probably not one person in this world who doesn't know the beauty of a rose. Wildly admired by almost every single country since ancient times, and even celebrated as mystical in movies like Beauty and The Beast.

Yes, owning a rose garden can be easy and fulfilling, but only if done correctly. The tips I'm about to give you, have managed to keep me and my wife's rose garden blooming from year after year. It's no wonder it's all that our neighbor's talk about.

Like any plant, the rose needs sunlight. At minimum six hours every day, so pick an area of the yard, where they will get the most sunlight. When you raise and care for roses, you're going to want to make sure that it has enough nutrients and water. Soil can be nutritionally enhanced by adding a little compost or natural fertilizers.

Pest (caterpillars, rose slugs, aphids, Japanese beetles, mites, etc) may decide that they admire your roses just as much as you do, and even like the taste. And unfortunately, it can be attacked by several different kinds of pest. (So a greenhouse, if in budget, is a practical and better choice for them) However, if you don't have that kind of money, or maybe even the time for it. Neem oil is a good bio-pesticide that can be used to keep most pest away. It also helps attract ladybugs, who will also aid in keeping bad pest away.

However, just a warning, in some studies Neem oil when ingested produced infertility in women, and therefore should not be brought into contact with women who are trying to become pregnant or are. If this is the case, I propose that you speak with someone at your local gardening store for further instruction on which pesticides to use.

Once your rose begin to bloom, it's incredibly important that you prune and clean the garden area up. Dead vines can hurt and force the rose to not bloom again the next year around. Trimming dead twigs and vines, can also help in teaching the rose bush how to grow in certain positions and placement.

If taken care of properly, rose bushes can fully bloom from June to the start of winter. Rose are a beautiful edition to any house, and great gifts when you forget to get someone something.
