Pros and Cons of Alvesco

Asthma is a chronic disease that has several drug treatments but the use of Alvesco has its pros and cons like any other drug. Asthma is a chronic disease that constricts the airways and causes them to be sore. This can cause sensitive. Signs of asthma are wheezing, coughing, and difficulty breathing. Severe asthma attacks are when the airways constrict to the point where key organs of the body are not getting ample oxygen. Some medications are used as maintenance and other are used to open the airways during an attack.

Alvesco is a drug that is used for maintenance and preventing asthma attacks and should not be used during an attack as it is not fast acting. I am not asthmatic but when I get sick I do have airway constrictions and I was recently prescribed Alvesco and loved it. Other medications out there gave me a dry mouth and is one did not. I would recommend others to ask their doctor about this medication and see if it is right for you. I am not turning to my old inhalers after using this!

The cons of such medications is that they are steroidal and make a person more prone to infections. In addition steroids can typically make a current infection worse. People who are allergic to ciclesonide should not take Alvesco. It is very important that if you have been exposed to chichenpoxs/ measles you call your doctor right way as this can be fatal with the combination of steroidal medication. Alvesco is considered a C class drug. This means that it can cause damage to an unborn child. Furthermore, it is not confirmed if the drug passes to breast milk so it is very important that you consult with your doctor before using while nursing. In children prolonged use of steroid medications causes slower growth in children so if you are noticing such signs, it is critical that you consult with your doctor. Like all drugs, some do not interact well with others so if you are taking any other medications it is very important to talk to your doctor as some reactions can be fatal.

With so many drugs on the market it is important to know what makes Alvesco different. Basically it is the first medication of its kind that is inhaled in the inactive form. The cells lining the bronchial tubes are what activate the medication. This concept reduces the likeness of total body steroid side effects. Furthermore the inactive state reduces the chances of oral/throat yeast infections. The high safety profile of this drug makes it recommendable based on research.

With so many medications on the market for treating and preventing Asthma it is very important you discuss the benefits and risks of each of them with your doctor and find the best medication for you.
