The pros of a backpack leaf blower.
• Blowing leaves with your backpack leaf blower puts much less strain on your body and back than the hand held leaf blowers or rakes. With the backpack blower, you have the ability to cover a much larger area of your yard in a shorter period of time. Most of the professional lawn services use the backpack model leaf blowers because of their ability to clean larger areas more effectively.
• Backpack blowers are comfortable and easy to handle. Many have conveniences like a handle with a throttle and ON/Off switches on the blower tube, a large fuel-filler opening and a throttle control you can preset.
The cons of a backpack leaf blower.
• Backpack leaf blowers are way more expensive than the hand held blowers. The added expense of the backpack style blower has nothing to do with its efficiency. The hand held models are just as effective and powerful. Unless you have a very large yard it is hard to justify the price of the backpack blower.
• The backpack style blowers are noisy. You definitely need to wear ear protection when using the backpack style. Carrying the leaf blower high on your back places the leaf blower closer to your ears. They are all noisy.
• The backpack leaf blowers are only good for blowing. They do not vacuum. If you feel a vacuum would be used for your circumstance then this model is not for you. Some hand held leaf blower models have vacuums so you can suck up the leaves and debris in order to transport to the dumping area. The backpack leaf blowers have to blow the leaves and the debris all the way to the dumping areas.
In conclusion, the backpack leaf blower has its benefits but they are limiting. A lot depends on an individual's yard and needs. Someone with a smaller yard could do just as well and save money by buying the smaller hand held leaf blower with a vacuum versus buying the backpack leaf blower.
